The split delta shield - why?

That's it! We blame the 1960's era cameras for not being able to show us the rich detail of, well, everything on TOS.

It looked exactly the same as it will on DSC.

DEFLECTORS SAY THERE'S SOMETHING THERE, SENSORS SAY THERE ISN'T.

Oh, this isn't a shouty Spock thread, is it?

WHY NOT?!? MICHAEL AND SAREK SEEM TO HAVE SOME SORT OF A CONNECTION BASED UPON THE TRAILER!!!!

Okay, I really don't know why this is so funny but it kinda is.

After all, it has not been used as such in TOS, TAS, the assorted flashbacks to the era, or the 2233 scenes of STXI. It's merely what the heroes wear on their chests.
And on the hull of the ships?

Every other Starfleet base was made of two parts anyway....oh hang on..
EXCEPT TOS AND TWOK ERA..AND TWOK WAS MADE OF ABOUT HALF A DOZEN. I AM NOT IN A PARALELL UNIVERSE BECAUSE I HAVE DIFFERENT SOCKS

^MY SOCKS ARE ALL THE SAME, DOES THAT MEAN I AM IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE?

And on the hull of the ships?

Except not. That was a post ST:TMP thing exclusively.

TOS/TAS had the banana/boomerang shape, while Kelvin and her shuttles had nothing to decorate their cheat lines. The delta decorated certain UESF starships more than a century before it became a UFP Starfleet thing (and certain UESPA probes a century before that); supposedly there's a connection there, but we don't know what it might be. Delta = 1st Fleet = Homo sapiens Only Fleet?
