Can someone here tell me, I've always wondered, why don't they (world leaders) hold these meeting on some nice sized island somewhere, or on a mountain top resort?

Their critics already basically consider them like Bond villains, so holding their SPECTRE summit at Piz Gloria in the Swiss Alps or in Dr. Evil's secret volcanic island lair probably wouldn't help that image.

I would agree with you on an individual basis but not when it comes to these mobs. They're about anarchy and destruction, using these summits as a form to promote their agenda.

Even on an individual basis they don't have much in common.

Many protesters are upper-middle class college kids that wouldn't have all that much in common with a police officer.

Comparing the violence of mobs to the immense utter destruction caused by world leaders is absurd.

Also, do not forget the good agents provocateurs and that crowds are often goaded into violence as an excuse for mass arrests.

The purpose of the large police presence is intimidation, to make people too afraid to stand up for themselves, not for the protection of wealthy elitists.
