I'm reading Glass Empires, and am about to start Sorrows of Empire. Is it worth reading the story in the Glass Empires anthology, or skipping it and just reading the novel version?

I had the impression that I have missed some important parts when I read the Glass Empire version. As a non-native speaker I contented myself with the shorter version of the story.
Especially the background of the fate of a certain people and a certain character remained unclear to me, so that I had to look it up in Memory Beta.
Of course you can read both the shorter and the full version. At least then you can compare them.

The longer version of Sorrows contains the entire text of the shorter version, just with a bunch more chapters added and a few textual tweaks. I don't see much reason to read them both except as an academic exercise.
Read the full-length novel version.
