The Six Degrees of Trek-aration

My co-worker knows one of the guys who will be helping to install the flashy lights and gizmos on bridge of Star Trek XI spaceships. According to The Six Degrees of Separation, I now know him too. Does this make me famous?!
Who do you know..that knows somebody...that knows somebody...etc that is involved with the making of SXI?

What color(s) are the flashy lights?

And how many are there?

And in what formation?

We've all got our switches, lights, and knobs to deal with, Striker. I mean, down here there are literally hundreds and thousands of blinking, beeping, and flashing lights, blinking and beeping and flashing - they're *flashing* and they're *beeping*. I can't stand it anymore! They're *blinking* and *beeping* and *flashing*! Why doesn't somebody pull the plug!

notice how the (tos) romulans and klingons never have to deal with blinking lights that beep? instead they herd them all under one big funnel-like contraption so that they can stare down at them...godlike.

Here's my 4 degrees of separation:

1. My father knows actor Tom Atkins (and I have met him).
2. Tom Atkins co-starred in 'Lethal Weapon' with Mel Gison.
3. Mel Gibson was in 'We Were Soldiers' with Keri Russell.
4. Keri Russell was in MI:3 and 'Felicity', directed by J.J. Abrams.

It may be only 2 degrees, because Tom Atkins is a resident of Pittsburgh, which is the birthplace of Zachary Quinto. Zach did a lot of theater at Carnegie-Mellon University and Atkins is very involved with Pittsburgh Regional Theater. Therefore Atkins and Quinto may know each other, but I can't confirm that they do.

Does being at Comic-Con and breathing the same air as Abrams, Quinto and Nimoy count? 'Cause then that would make my degree of separation like... half of a degree or something

Yes, you win a discount ticket to the opening of Star Trek XI.
"That'll be $34.00 please. Now, please step forward and keep moving to the right. Thank you." :)

b-but I bought TWO copies of "Shekhinah"!!!

I saw Star Trek The Wrath of Khan in the theater in 1982, and Leonard Nimoy was in it, so I guess that's two degrees of separation for me!

I dated a guy who went to Jeffrey Combs' wedding (he knew the bride).

No, that's NOT why I dated him. :p

I also know Dan Castellaneta, who is the Voice of Homer Simpson. Since EVERYONE has been on the Simpsons, that makes me two degrees away from anyone you'd care to name, including (ta DAH!) Leonard Nimoy.

Only if you refuse to exhale because the air would escape. A TRUE fan would have suffocated by now. ;)

I shook hands with Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig and James Doohan who will all be recast in the new movie so... Well that's a lot of seperation I think.... I... Never mind. :o

Hey I just realized...now that I know you all...and based on what degree of separation you are from those stars you mentioned... I'm only plus-one degree of separation from all the stars you all are connected to!

and since I came up with this insight first, I've got first dibs...it only applies to me.

(Oh, alright...I'll share...the more the merrier!)

I bottled it all in a jar that I brought with me ;) I also took in some of the air when people were cheering for Nimoy and Quinto - just to show that Trek is still very much alive!

No, it's not gone - it has just been waiting for the right time to return, and it has its eye on December of next year :D
