I know Brannon Braga wasn't a TOS fan, but someone should have told him that there's well over 10 episodes where the Enterprise goes over warp 10. In "Wink of an Eye" they went to 14.4!!!!!!!
Hell, in the Filmation series they went 36!

P.S. I am aware of the change in the Warp scale, but my point still stands.

If you knew all this then you also know that Gene Roddenberry came up with the reformatted warp scale. Braga is not at fault here and the line makes sense in context of the new scale so I am not sure how your point stands at all?

Yet said new scale has never been alluded to in canon, and so-called "official" warp scales in the manuals have never ever matched whats in the shows anyway - according to "By Any Other Name", the old Enterprise would have made Voyager's "75 years at warp 9.975" journey in a month at warp 8.4.

They implied it in "All Good Things" when they had the USS Pasteur go to Warp 13.

And let's face it, in TOS everything went at the speed of plot. It wasn't until Voyager that NOT being able to go anywhere fast became a necessity.

How was it implied unless you've read technical manuals? During TNG they max out at warp 9-point-something, passing warp 10 once in "Where No One Has Gone Before". In AGT they go to warp 13 which isn't treated like a big deal at all - it's just four warp factors faster than they could go 25 years earlier.

Agreed that it was Voyager that made a Trekking across the galaxy a lifelong journey. That's the only time those warp scales have been taken seriously. DS9 made the "long way" trip to the other end of the wormhole a lifelong journey too, but they merrily hopped from DS9 to Bajor, Earth, Romulus, Kronos, Cardassia and others all in the space of a scene break, and often by Runabout!

Missed this one:

"Thrusters on full."

Although a little weird, I figure it's a STIV reference - "He's not exactly working on all thrusters!"

This new young crew very much is.

In TNG except for Where No Man and All Good things warp 10 was always treated like a hard limit even though it was never directly alluded to. Whenever the Enterprise was supposed to be going 'really super duper fast' it went to 9.8...then 9.9...then 9.91... it was obvious the writers were under instruction to make 10 the hard limit. In Where No Man Has Gone Before they had not established the warp scale yet and in All Good Things they only threw out warp 13 to show how much more futury the future had become in a few decades.

Threshold is a terrible episode but making warp 10 the hard limit is not one of its faults.

Most people don't object to Warp 10 being the hard limit. Most people object to Warp 10 making you be everywhere at once. And the lizard thing.
