In the vision that the Silver Surfer had, he saw all the universe's heroes and villains fighting together as one, including Galactus and the Living Tribunal. Dr. Manhattan biggest weakness are he is still lead by human nature, emotion and he hasn't matured as a God. Moore's Manhattan is basically a sex-ed up version of DC's Captain Atom,
a guy who was out played and out thought by many DC villains.

Except that Captain Atom was just an Air Force officer, while Jon was a nuclear physicist. So, while he is based on Captain Atom, if he were based in the DCU, I doubt he'd have been played and out thought as much as Nathanial Adam was. Adam was never portrayed as the smartest guy on the block, while Jon understands his powers and their nature a whole lot better.

Dude, the Silver Surfer when human was part of a highly advanced space faring civilization. A people that created the perfect utopia devoid of crime, disease, or poverty. While we were going around with fur on our backs making monkey noises like primates Surfer's people were doing the most amazing things... owned while still in diapers Cracking an atom or creating things like radiation was childs play to the people of Zenn-Lavian society.

the more I search this topic on the net and think about Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's original Surfer, the more I realize he's going to open up a serious can of pwnage
and I mean POWNGE on DR.M

People say Dr Manhattan can break up Surfer like he did that Tank or that Vietnamese guy who attacked him with an AK, ridiculous! Even if Dr.M by some kind of miracle manages to break up the Surfer he can come back in 12 different parts and willed himself back together like when he fought the Blackbody God of another multi-verse.
its not easy to 'break up' Surfer. The Silver Surfers skin makes him immune to any attack, pulsars, suns, supernova you name it surfer takes this stuff wthout even getting a suntan. To break Surfer up you either have to fly at Warp 9.999999999999999999999 and take him outside the expansion of the inflationary universe like the Blackbody fight, be Galactus to break him up, or collapse the Universe in a big crunch >>> since Dr Jon Osterman can do none of those things and has trouble defeating Soviet missiles he hasn't a hope in hell. It said a max of 99% of missiles in the movie but think in the comic he could only take down 60% of the missiles. Surfer on the other hand takes out whole fleets of Bird of Prey class warships with futuristic weapons systems in the blink of an eye.

Dr Manhattan doesn't know if he's a God or if there's a God....he's still philosophying trying to figure that stuff out
while Silver Surfer on the other hand knows there is a God, there are many of them. He's fought them for a living and even killed some of them. To be in Surfer's league or take him out you have to be guys like Galactus, the Green Lanterns, Lady Death, Mephisto etc

To only reason Surfer ever does get hit is because he choses to be hit
the guy could choose to project himself across the universe in some kind of hologram, he could be sitting at home and using some kind of spiritual/astral projection to explore the stars. But Surfer doesn't work this way, he likes to be human, to explore the stars, to get down and dirty when the fighting starts and slug it out gladiator style and it adds to the drama.
I mean how crap would it be if everytime Hulk or Superman took a swing at Surfer their fists swung through thin air.
The Silverman is a Gladiator who has proven himself a champion against a universe of immortals, taken out alien starfleets and Gods.
Dr M on the other hand is a chicken, he's a philosopher not a brawler. Dr Manhattan wants to flee from his humanity. In his first fight he ran away to Mars, plus Dr M never had to face an opponent on the level of Green Lantern or Odin or Galactus....Surfer fights guys in this class all the time. Dr Manhattan's first big tests were fighting the Russians and Ozy (Adrian Veidt) and he failed miserably against those two.

BTW if a USAF officer and a physicist were in a bar room brawl, I don't care how 'smart' the physicist thinks he is my money's on the Air Force officer.
In terms of intelligence Jon Osterman wasn't actually that smart, he was outsmarted by the Russians and outsmarted by Ozy and was dumb enough to get himself trapped in that experiment chamber.

Surfer's greatest weakness is there is no such thing as 'Canon' in Marvel, he gets weaker and weaker as the years roll on and Marvel continuity sucks. When the Silver Surfer was introduced he was basically a God like creature that could not be defeated and a symbol of apocalyptic nuclear annihilation. However as powerful as surfer was his master Galactus was even more powerful since he basically ate planets for breakfast. Almost nothing stops Surfer/Galactus, they have eaten thousands and thousands of worlds.

Then this ancient cosmic dude who records everything called Watcher, ends up saving Earth by telling the Fantastic Four about this UltimateNullifier, a weapon that just anti-matters everything into non existance and the only thing that can defeat Galactus/surfer.

Since those days its become a lot easier to defeat Surfer, I remember one comic where Namor defeats Surfer with one punch. It was absolute junk, I ended up throwing the comic in the bin

Which is just bad writing, really. The Omega Effect is, by definition, equivalent to the Ultimate Nullifier. It makes things cease to exist. Period. End of sentence.

It is only because Darkseid has been wussified over time with his integration into the DC universe that it has become less powerful. After all, they can't have Superman erased from existance. HE brings in too much money.

Jack Kirby was a great, great comicbook writer but he was not perfect, he did sometimes make mistakes. One of the problems many writers faced was Superman had no canon, it was a trillion times worse than Trek.
Superman would flip from the cartoonish, to the entertaining, to thought provoking to the completely ridiculous. One problem Jack Kirby had was he wasn't working with a level playing field and people had created all kinds of alternate canon for Superman

Maybe part of the problem was people were taking all kinds of crazy drugs during the 60s/70s. One comic Superman is a guy who can jump only a few miles, the next he can fly from Metropolis to HongKong in the blink of an eye. Another Superman comic he's lifting the entire planet and it doesn't collapse under its own weight, the next comic he gets KO'ed by a common bad guy or was it batboy? DC comics needed to have some kind of continuity in their comics so they came up with this 'Crisis' thing in the late 80s early 90s and started killing off characters and hitting the reset button. It started to work. Superman was finally taken down a big peg or two, especially when he was killed by Doomsday. It finished kind of silly, Superman beaten by a guy with no real strategy except brute force, more of a marketing gimmick than anything else. I think part of the reason why Smallville is so silly is it randomly pulls silly stuff from the many years of an un-continuious Superman and just adds a bunch teenage drama to it.

Marvel also had the same probelms with its history of poor continuity, they tried to hit the reset button on everyone with its Heroes Reborn. Not sure if it worked though. Some of Marvel's movies like Xmen are great, I don't think Fanatastic 4 Surfer worked. That movie was complete crap, Galactus a cloud talk about epic fail, it also received some of the worst critical reviews for a Marvel movie.
