"The Silence are the scariest monsters we've had" - Matt Smith

Yeah I heard a snippet of him on the radio yesterday afternoon mention this.

I wonder if the Silence is why Amy and River have to scrawl all over themselves?

Interesting. Does Matt seem a little more restrained or settled-down than he did in interviews last year? Before his first episodes aired, he always seemed a bit over-the-top and full of nervous energy doing these things, and now he's almost sedate.

A long day? No longer feels the need to prove himself? More mature? Or is Psion completely mistaken about this in addition to talking about himself in the third person?

I'm looking forward to seeing who the Silence is. Interesting and yeah Matt seems more relaxed and sedated in his interviews recently. That was gonna come with being more used to the role and the fame that comes with it.

If it follows Moffat's Monster track record, the Silence won't be a single actor giving lines but a series of stuntmen who don't talk.

Given its Moffat, The Silence is likely to be either

(a) something in our daily lives given a fearful twist; or
(b) literally is silence. A monster that somehow exists and thrive in-between the gaps of audible sound.

"Keep talking, Amy, that's it. Just ramble on about anything. What's the weather's like, what's your favourite film, what's Rory like in the sack...no...no don't talk about that!"

"But feel free to strip down and show me."

Maybe it sucks away the sound so they're running away with the noise on mute while explosions and stuff go on around them, shouting at each other without being able to communicate.

This is gonna be embarrassing, but wasn't the Silence the big bad of season 5?
The Time Crack was the big Bad of S5, but, yes, The Silence was bubbling in the background, waiting to be expanded upon. "The Silence is coming" or something to that effect

"Silence will fall." And if you listen to Katherine Jenkins' song in A Christmas Carol, there's a lot of references to how "Silence is all around..."

OK, I thought the Silence was going to be the result of the Time Crack consuming everything, so I got confused by a monster having the same name. Apparently we're not done with the first one.

Thanks, now I have the Killer Klowns theme running through my head

Always happy to create an annoying ear worm! :nyah:

Since the Silence are the baddies next series, wouldn't their fall be a good thing? Unless they're huge and literally fall on you.

I really like theory b! Cool and terrifying at the same time, something Moffat definitely would come up with. :techman:

Prisoner Zero said "The Pandorica will open, Silence will fall", implying the two are somehow related. Maybe rebooting the universe created the Silence?
