I love the title. Why? Because it is short enough as it is. It conveys what the show is, who's in it. It is clear and understandable.
Yeah, unfortunately. Still sounds a little weird though. It's like Saved by the Bell: Zack or something.

Star Trek: The Next Chapter
is frustratingly vague, sorry for saying so:
"There are so many Star Tracks, which chapter is this now?"
To me it flows better and it's on par with "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

When first announced, I thought I'd seen Star Trek: Picard used around this forum as a placeholder for a few days/weeks until an official announcement debunked it and said "we are certainly not calling it Star Trek: Picard." And then a year or so later, they branded it Star Trek Picard anyway. Does anyone remember this or am I delusional from all this fresh Prime Trek?
That's how I remember it. Maybe they couldn't come up with anything better and came to the same conclusion that "Star Trek: Picard" is simple and to the point.

The main star of the show had a different title idea, apparently. ;)

Speaking about having the series named after his character, Stewart says “Initially I had proposed the title should be Jean-Luc. Nobody liked that idea at all!" He added, "I still feel a certain amount of pressure with that [Picard] in the title. When I see it driving alongside Sunset Blvd and there's this massive poster up there, I still kind of squirm a little bit.”

I wouldn’t say the fact that they are filming 2 and 3 back to back means there’s going to be more after that. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s (at least partially) being done for Patrick Stewart’s benefit so he’s just got one big block of filming to do and then that’s him done.

I posted a while back that it was being done to control the production schedule and to contain costs.

^ I don't remember anyone complaining. From what I remember, the studio added "Star Trek" to Enterprise to try to save the show.

The last time Star Trek was left off the title of a Star Trek series it caused a lot of bitching. Best to avoid it all.

They could change the paint in the bathroom on the Enterprise between movies and it would "cause a lot of bitching." If the producers made it a policy to avoid things that cause bitching, the franchise would have died in 1980.

I remember a lot of complaining. A. LOT. But then bitching and trekkies go together like chicken nuggets and honey mustard dipping sauce.

The new way....Star Trek Canon fan directions only series..... went plop and vanished into a subspace hole filled with chrono particles.... In a certified canon way...

I would've preferred Star Trek: Destiny.

It's a passing of the torch from TNG to the new generation.

There are already David Mack's Destiny novels...... Star Trek: Destiny might have caused legal problems and confusion...
