So not a cop show starring Jennifer Lopez?

Nope, just a famous old guy well past his prime signs some autographs, has money troubles, gets involved with a bad situation, tries to do the right thing and probably inadvertently ends up in jail.

Seriously, has no one here seen JVCD?

honestly, at this point they could just drop the "star trek" part of the title, people would get it. but maybe they don't want a repeat of the "just enterprise" incident.

Picard makes it sound too much like Logan though, which I know is a film Stewart has said in interviews has been inspiration for this show. I hope it isn't that much because that is a very depressing movie and I don't want Star Trek to be that dark. This isn't BASG.

It's a straight-forward title, but, even then I don't like it much. Star Trek has never excelled at creating interesting titles; for the most part they've just been named after something (and now someone).

The title for this series was kept secret for so long that we were just calling it Picard until it was officially revealed. And then when it was revealed to be Picard, I just remember going, "Oh. Ok, then..."

What was the big secret?

I've heard jokes in the past about TPTB creating a "Battlestar Starfleet" show.

It's on my list because the previews looked hilarious. I love Jean-Claude.

At the end of its run, like the very last ep of S3, I’d love for Picard to be honoured with having his name attached to a new starship, USS PICARD, thus ultimately following the shows since TNG being named after a starship

How about something more descriptive:

"Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jean-Luc Picard (and Some of the Other Ones, Too, Plus Attractive, Youthful Newcomers So Not Everyone is Over 60)"

It's going longer than three seasons (Seasons 2 and 3 are being filmed back-to-back).

They called it "Star Tre: Picard" so they could Trademark and register it. You couldn't TM a show called just "Picard" as it's a proper name.

Star Trek should be mentioned in the title because it is a Star Trek series and a series based on The Next Generation, a series created by Gene Roddenberry who created the original Star Trek. The main character is a character created by Gene.

I wouldn’t say the fact that they are filming 2 and 3 back to back means there’s going to be more after that. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s (at least partially) being done for Patrick Stewart’s benefit so he’s just got one big block of filming to do and then that’s him done.

I'm very excited about this new show but one thing I don't like is the title "Star Trek: Picard". Personally, I would have preferred it just be Picard, but I can see why they had to call it what they did. Marketing, of course. It's an unfortunate reality.

Another title that came to mind last week thanks to someone else's post was Star Trek: The Next Chapter. It's a nice title, it fits the show's subject matter (the next chapter of Picard's life) and it's reminiscent of The Next Generation.

What do you think of the title Star Trek: Picard?

I love the title. Why? Because it is short enough as it is. It conveys what the show is, who's in it. It is clear and understandable.
Star Trek: The Next Chapter is frustratingly vague, sorry for saying so:
"There are so many Star Tracks, which chapter is this now?"

When first announced, I thought I'd seen Star Trek: Picard used around this forum as a placeholder for a few days/weeks until an official announcement debunked it and said "we are certainly not calling it Star Trek: Picard." And then a year or so later, they branded it Star Trek Picard anyway. Does anyone remember this or am I delusional from all this fresh Prime Trek?

I seem to remember that "THEY" never confirmed or denied what the shows title would be.

We all did a chit-load of speculating though.
