I know the place you're talking about, as it's not that far from where I work, but I can't, for the life of me, think of the name of the place. And yes, it's absolutely fantastic what they can do with the pig.
I won't mention how much I drank Friday night, especially because I hit the carpet in the hotel lobby somewhere in the vicinity of 2am. That said, I've been a long believer in the water cure, and I drank a half-gallon of water when I got back to my hotel room.
Oh, yeah, my body definitely tells me when I'm drinking something I shouldn't. I'm not quite sure what was in the Romulan Ale at the bar, but it was enough for me to know to avoid that.2. Pacing/knowing when to stop. Comes with experience.I know precisely how much I can drink and where that line is. I never, ever cross it as the results for me are dire.
Likewise, I ate a bag of Rolled Golds when I got back to my room Friday night.
So I didn't quite have a hangover Saturday morning, but I wasn't exactly doing well, either. The electrolytes were off, and I had the shakes in the middle of the day. Though that could have been an insufficient quantity of coffee in the system, too.
My receipt says "Andy Nelson's Southern Pit Barbecue" (and yayy, they spelled it right!). I gather Mr. Nelson was a former football player, and that the establishment is closed on Sundays because they're occupied with catering football games. Which is why we went on Saturday.
That's the one! 
Let me ask you folks a question about the con. I thought the place would be packed like it was a few years back with the Spikettes. Here was a guest from a movie that's made more than $350 million. I was of the opinion that the place would be jammed. Was it because the actor wasn't one of the leads in the movie? Is the economy that bad that movie success doesn't translate well into convention success? We had a great time with our panels (we did one for every day to enable people to discuss the movie). So why didn't the con go off like a rocket on July 4?
Randy, if you're talking about having Clifton Collins as a guest, I'll be honest -- I just don't see the draw. Just because he's in the new film doesn't automatically translate into people beating down the door. I don't see Collins as being anywhere in the same league as James Marsters.
Plus, wasn't he a late addition to the guest line-up? Say, around the time that Kevin Sorbo dropped?
I thought con attendance was down from previous years, as I can't think of any point in the weekend where the halls felt crowded. Meet the Pros felt sparser than last year, and last year it was in the hall and in the Hunt Ballroom.
My one complaint? I thought some of the panel rooms had some serious environmental problems.
Plus, wasn't he a late addition to the guest line-up? Say, around the time that Kevin Sorbo dropped?

I think that you need to do the water at the same time that you do the alcohol, not after. I'm too chickenshit to try it your way, because as I said, if I get hungover, I'm 100% incapacitated. So I don't dare take the chance. I don't pay good money to go to a con to be stuck in bed with a headache, nausea, etc.

I bet bread would work well too, but it's easier to get/bring in pretzels to a bar than bread.
Lack of coffee will do it! But what gets me when I travel is a lack of cold water. I drink a lot of water normally and in a hotel room with no fridge, I tend to drink a lot less and the body is not happy. Marriott sold big bottles of cold water in a vending machine and it wasn't too badly priced, so every now and then I got one of those.

I'm guessing both. Attendance is down all over. Plus - there were no really "must see!" guests. I'm not a SG-Atlantis fan so there was no draw for me there. Clifton? Played a minor ST role. I've seen Picardo and Phillips down at Vulkon.
Someone major from the new ST movie might have helped things, but lots of people are hurting $$$ wise with the economy being the way it is and many who are employed are holding back $$$ in case they get laid off, so that could be a factor.
Really? This was the first year in my memory that I felt the panel rooms were actually uniformly comfortable. Even outside the hotel, the weather was nothing shy of perfect, IMHO.
Wasn't it though? It was terrible to return back to the tropics.
I was in a three-hour workshop where it was freezing, over in the section of the hotel where the blood donation sign up was.
During the break, I nipped over to the cafe and grabbed a hot coffee. If I'm cold, 99% of the others in the room need to be wearing coats as I have great cold tolerance.
I know that Bob and Ethan have been performing "House Call" for a few years now, but did anyone happen to see it this time? How'd it go?

As evidenced by the gentleman who fell asleep and snored loudly at the "Legend of the Seeker" panel... a panel, I believe they podcasted.
Boy I hope he was loud enough to capture on audio.
I was mildly curious about that panel, because I was surprised it was on the schedule at all. I didn't realize it had enough of an audience to support a panel. I was not, however, curious enough to attend the panel.

Looking up women who smile at Christopher isn't unusual.
Of course, we're usually checking for restraining orders....
All of the coaxing, cajoling and flat-out dragging a lot of us have been trying for years might be working. Christopher, you have no idea how proud I was when you spoke up and interrupted during the smackdown panel. That was a pleasant surprise, one of many for me at the con.
^Thank you, Terri. It takes me a while to get warmed up, but I can be fairly outgoing once I do. And I do consider it something of an accomplishment that I was able to get a word in edgewise on a panel with Peter David. (Actually I did that on two panels, but there were so few witnesses at the Shards and Shadows panel that it's difficult to prove....)
