I have also read they they wanted her to stay but she wanted out to go onto Becker. They did not let Robert Beltran out of his contract, why would they let her out?
I realize that Terry left to play a bartender on Becker, however, even that just added water to the ship. I have yet to find out why she did leave the series. I have read where she really wanted to stay, but they wanted to kill someone off, and it was to be her. I have also read they they wanted her to stay but she wanted out to go onto Becker. If indeed she wanted to stay, and they felt to need to kill off a main character, why replace her at all. I did like the Ezri character, however as Garek said "I knew the real Dax, and you're not her". Finally, if she wated to play bartender, mabey she should have resigned her commision and gotten a job at Quarks as a Dabo Girl

What was the point where you thought, ummmm, the ship (STAR TREK) was starting to take on water???

I thought they were all signed for seven years, but clearly they weren't. So either she left because she wanted to Decker, or she left because they wanted to kill her.....
Well just to be nerdy, INS came out over 2 and half years before ENT startedI heard a dripping sound when VOY was airing. I saw water on the floor with Enterprise. I spotted the leak with INS. The leak erupted into a gusher with NEM.

When DS9 was announced. And sure enough, the ratings for that show just slipped lower and lower week after week, year after year.
Many folks blame Rick Berman/Braga for the decline of TREK towards the end of their watch. I like to think it was a set of problems, but no doubt about it; they contributed.

Wow, I never realized that it had become that complicated. Knowing that the Friends cast stuck together and got what they wanted, I wonder what would have happened if the DS-9 cast had stuck together also. I assume that Paramont would have had to giving into their demands. I for one was hoping that the entire cast could have at least started season 7. Knowing full well that a major character may have to be "killed off" at sometime during the season, espically since they were in the middle of a major conflict.
Off subject for a second, the safest place to have been on a Federation starship in that time period may just have been on Voyager??
