Spoilers The Ship at the end of 2x03

Here's the ship from the December trailer.

It looks like it has changed a bit from this trailer. It was a lot shinier and has a glowing bridge dome in Episode 3.

I said "queuing" which would be terribly inefficient, if you get taken places in the ordered that that you requested to be taken somewhere.

AI or an uncoruptable coordinator off ship would be my guess, if this ship (or fleet of class of ships) is more like a drop ship rather than a star ship.

An AI called "Control" who they mention at the end of the episode? Got to be at least a call out to David Mack?

There is a round place there for the bridge dome.
Must be They just didn't have all the CGI glowy bits ready for the trailer.

The episode didn't say that it referred to an AI. It could be a code name for the head of the organization, like in John Le Carre's spy novels.

My guess it's what star fleet can build without being hampered by pesky rules and treatys.

It's jobs to get shit done.

Makes me wonder what a 24th century section 31 ship like.
When Picard screwed something up with his hippy peace a love crap, what did S31 send after to fix his mess?

Yeah I know it didn't say this, just pointing out that as someone who has read Section 31: Control it made my mind go there.

Looking at the subtitles, which showed Control written in big letters as CONTROL, seems to hint that it might be something more than just the leadership of Section 31 and also something very important we'll see at some point down the road.

I guess it will be something very similar to the A.I. known from David Mack's Section 31 novel, even if the producers might have got the same idea not from his novel but on their own.

Or, David Mack could be contractually required to mislead us all for the time being. :D

My issue with it looking like a shuttle is that bridge. It's 2 decks high! Not even the USS Vengeance had that and she was a mile long. Trek finally has a massive bridge and it's on... a small stealth ship?

You said it. It looked more like the aft end of a ship that lost its saucer somewhere.

Eh, people will root for them anyway, kind of in an "AMERICA SECTION 31, FUCK YEAH!" kind of way.
Right, that's what still concerns me. The argument will be that they are a "necessary evil" which even DS9 tried hard to refute. Narratively that gets really muddy the more you have them accomplish things that the actual protagonists can't due to their ethics. Best not go there unless you want to make the Good Guys look weak and their morals misguided.

I do think that, so far, they've handled it better than I was expecting, but only just (largely thanks to being barely seen so far). The ship itself? Pretty cool-looking, and a neat concept even if a bit too much "don't look at me, I'm a perfectly Normal Human Ship going about my business!" but I can overlook that. The same can be said for Sloan's black uniforms (which seemed performative for Bashir's sake at the time). I want to see more of it, but given how little we see of the ships on Discovery, presumably due to budget, this fancy double-decker room may already be the majority we get aside from a possible corridor.

here is a new set photo of the uh ship a the end of 2x03:

looks so much better with the complimentary lighting rather than all blue all the time.

It is very cool looking.

I really liked the Shenzhou bridge too, but if it weren't for BTS material I'd not have noticed the glass in the original set floor. They never shot it in such a way it was obvious.

This reminds me of the Battlestar Galactica bridge. Unless it's out of frame, there doesn't seem to be the traditional navigation station (or captain's chair). I guess we shall see.

We have seen both the sides of that bridge. The shot above is looking aft. In the forward part, on the upper level, there's a big viewscreen, and two consoles, but no command chair. And the ship jumps to warp without anybody sitting at either of the consoles; we don't know whether the S31 Boss Man issues his warp command to people working on the lower level, or directly to the ship herself.
