"The Shape of Things to Come" Live Commentary

Did we really even need the beach scenes? They seem so silly when compared to the rest of the episode.

The beach scenes were important in that the doctor washed up dead on the beach, but when Daniel was communicating with the boat they said he was fine (meaning still alive). ;)

Yep. Confirmation all is not what it seems with the boat people. But we already knew that, and the beach crew should know that or at least suspect it by now.

Just don't think we needed to see them this ep.

Also, remember when Jack calls Bernard over right before the scene change? Something is up with that. I'm interested to find out what, other than the fact that it might have something to do with the Morse code.

Bernard was a dentist, right? He would be the closest to a Doctor (other than Juliet) if something happened to him from being sick.

That sounds about right. I'm glad they're finding stuff to do with Bernard. What in the world is Rose up to?

I thought he wanted Bernard for something to do with the dead doctor. Didn't think about Jack self-diagnosing. Wonder why he wouldn't tell Juliet, though. Weird.

I'm pretty sure Jack asked Bernard to keep closed mouth about knowing morse code until after Danial sends and receives a message.

And now we know Whidmore was in charge of Dharma.

One question down, 4,999 to go.

I assume he just wouldn't want to worry her. Keep his strong machismo pride going.

Wow, holy shit, kickass

On a slightly more rational note, I'm kinda torn between rooting for Ben and wanting Penny to live. Ben's a manipulative fucker, so I don't have to root for him. I'm disapointed both Alex and Danielle are dead, both made my jaw drop open (Alex was worse because how it happened). I rooted for the Monster, though. That was fun :D Ben said she was crazy, which makes her story even more in doubt. Now I have no idea what to believe (and I don't think we'll ever know unless it's a Ben flashback).

And, in other news, wow, holy shit, kickass

Oh, no, Penny! Poor Desmond. Ben is so evil. :(

Yes he's evil but it's a complicated evil. I'm just wondering when it's all said and done, and when we finally find out what the island is all about, if maybe we'll have a different opinion of Ben. By that I'm wondering if he isn't doing some really bad things to serve a great good.

But of course murdering Penny would seem to be just for revenge.

Ben murdered a lot of Dharma people and his own father. He has waged war on the survivors of Flight 815. I don't know how they will reconcile all that. He said that Danielle was a madwoman, but maybe she became that way after her child was stolen away from her. Remind anyone of WAAALLLTT!?
