The Secret Circle(The CW) *Spoilers*

What? Witches/Warlocks are no longer only black?

To be fair there are white warlocks in the last half of the second season of Vampire Diaries as well. The reason most of the spell casters in Vampire Diaries are black is that most of the ones we see are from the extended Bennett clan.

From that clip, it's getting more clear that this will be heavy on the teen angst and insipid pop songs. Not sure if I'm going to be able to hack that, but I'll give it a shot. Maybe I just need to accept that CW shows are not for me.

Well if you don't like Vampire Diaries you probably wont like Secret Circle. The have the same producers and writers and they both share the same author.

It's all but a spin off from Vampire Diaries and is going to be paired with it.

I've read the pilot. I think those that like Teen Drama in their supernatural shows will enjoy it. Not like Buffy, but, should fit in perfectly with the CW.

Didn't see the episodes with the white warlocks. True many of the black ones are from the extended Bennett clan, but that doesn't explain the Martins or Bree. Granted a handful of characters, but still it struck me that almost all of the black characters thus far cast have been witches/warlocks. I haven't seen any black vamps or werewolves.

Teenage girls are gonna love it. CW's got a winner. Wonder if the network's going to interfere with Ringer and make it less adult and more youth-friendly.

I've the chance to read both the pilot for both "Ringer" and "The Secret Circle" and haven't got around to it yet. Nothing about the latter has put me off so far, that's a good sign for me.

Several of Klaus's spellslingers where white. Including a very powerful warlock. One of the Tomb Vampires is black. All of the Werewolves have been white so far.

Bree was implied but not stated to be a Bennett Witch. She was aware of Emily and her grimoire after all.

The Martin's I agree seem to be a completely separate family. I would point out that if we assume Bree is a Bennett then they are the only other Black magic users we meet. The only black witch in Klaus's employee was a Martin.

Magic use and Lycanthropy are by bloodline in Vampire Diaries so that would explain why in the small circle the cast travels in we see so many similarities.

EDIT I know it's off topic but what do we think Jeremy is now? A Mummy , Geist or something else?

^
I didn't see the black Tomb vampire either. Anyway, I think Jeremy is a ghost whisperer.

Well yeah but why? Is he still a human? He died and was returned from death by essentially brute force magic. Bonnie was warned that that would have consequences.

^
Well, I don't think he's a ghost. People see him and he is corporeal. As for a mummy, I don't think so. I don't know how a VD mummy would be depicted, but I doubt he's that. He looks healthy, not a like a rotting dead body. It's possible that he's been demonically possessed, but we didn't get any indication of that.

It just looks to me like he can see and/or communicate with the dead. I think that's a pretty big consequence.

In world of darkness which vampire diaries takes a lot from geist are not ghosts. They are people that come back to life but are still sort of half way between the world of the dead and the world of the living. Mummy's are similar. They are undead but much more like the alive than most undead. And not at all rotting. Come to think of it the mummy in "the mummy" was not rotting either.

I haven't read the Vampire Diaries books or the World of Darkness stuff, but just because there might have been some inspiration from WoD, doesn't mean that they take everything from that. Also, for the sake of the TV audience, it makes more sense to go with the idea of ghosts instead of geist (which I actually thought was the German word for ghost anyway). Why add another layer of exposition when the concept of ghosts is similar to geist and pretty much the audience can grasp?

Because Jeremy is not a ghost. He is something else that has the ability to interact with ghosts. I have no idea what the show will call him. But so far he is very close to what world of darkness calls a geist (yes it's German for ghost but wod doesn't use the word that way. They use it to mean a possessed person) or a mummy. A mummy in world of darkeness being a person brought back from the dead and who has a great deal of power because of it.

The other 6 minute preview is gone...but The CW now has it on their YT channel.

Check out 'Ringer' starring Sarah Michelle Gellar also. :bolian:

I saw the "Ringer" promo during a commercial on CW while randomly channel surfing and it looks interesting. I'll at least check out the pilot.
