Very, very different from the 1987 version:

Edit: closer to the book

Looks like it could be fun. Been an awful long time since I read the book but this feels kinda like a halfway house between the book and the Arnie film.

Gods, that's depressing.

Depressing because we're not that far from that "reality" show becoming reality.

Depressing because so many Americans will care more about "reality television" than widespread poverty...and how corporations will want to capitalize on both of them.

Sorry to be a downer but that was my kneejerk reaction after watching the trailer. I've never seen the Arnold film or read the King novel. I imagine King probably agrees with me.

To be fair King doesn't even remember writing the novel...

I can't believe they're claiming it was written by Stephen King when the original film clearly says that it was written by Richard Bachman!

I'm surprised to see the bit in the trailer where they're fighting in the cockpit of a plane. Looks like they might be doing the book ending after all. Good.

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Trailer seems promising, Edgar Wright usually delivers, I'm on board. :)

I thought that about the cockpit scene

It's time I post this again. Any excuse will do. ;)

It's kind of funny that the movies for The Long Walk and The Running Man will be released within a few months of each other.

Helps draw the thread together..."Hey, Stephen King wrote a story about boys who walk. And then thought, wait I got it! Even better...men who run!" ;)

I'm a sucker for 80's movies, especially Arnold movies, but Running Man is one I just never got into. Though when it was said they were redoing it closser to the book, I was excited, and the trailer looks good to me, I'll be seeing it in theatres!
