The Romulans and the Defiant's cloaking device.

What do you think?
If the writers were thoughtful, they could have explored it. Exploring the character and her figuring how the Federation could survive without having a cloak or discover whether she likes being a part of the Star Empire? She could've made a friend there, and saw where it went. These are elements for character development for something positive would be more appropriate for TOS, & TNG, not a War-happy show like DS9.

It's a missed opportunity to bring a Romulan as a cast member, but screen time would be scarce. With all of the immaterial characters (Worf, Leeta, Vic, Rom, Martok, Weyoun -A great character- Demar, Eddington, Cassidy & Ezri clogging the show as was, there wouldn't be much space for her.

Actually, they weren't. There was mention of one forced labor camp, with no mention on how one ended up being there (only a tiny majority of the Bajoran population obviously did), but generally the Occupation was a closer analogy to the earlier stages of Nazi tyranny, with the Cardassians seemingly actively throwing Bajorans off planet.

Absolutely right, just to show the Cardassians were patterned more like the British Empire than the Nazis.

T'Pol was a Romulan.

1. Everyone on Vulcan 2000 years ago was a Romulan.

2. Surak deconstructed and rebuilt what it means to be a Romulan. NuVulcans embraced Logic, old fashioned Vulcans ne Romulans sick of the oppression ####ed off to Romulus.

3. At some point, someone in power said "Fuck this is hard" and abridged the teaching of Surak from the Kir Shara. NunuVulcans became less NuVulcan and more Romulan which is old Vulcan.

4. Ent Vulcans were more like Romulans than TOS Vulcans, therefore T'Pol was a Romulan until she read and embraced the original text of the Kir shara, and even then it was almost impossible for her to embrace Logic because of her brain rotting Trellium D addiction.

5. Also she was a Romulan Spy reporting back to the empire.
