As for RFM...it's a favourite of mine...do we know what the extra lines between Kirk and Rayna were about?

I read the script ages ago and from what I can recall it was
a lot of dialogue where Kirk and Rayna bond while talking about her varied talents and interests. It would have helped the audience understand Kirk's becoming enamored with her so quickly IMO. At least it did for me when I read it. Maybe other people who have seen the script would remember better.

Just remembered, a while back someone posted a transcript of a huge cut scene from Omega Glory from act 1, where Kirk and Tracy talk about the situation. Way, way better had they left that in and trim way down the corny jingoistic speech by Kirk. I love the good old USA, but that scene is over the top and the audience seeing, Kirk, Tracy, Spock and McCoy interact would have been more welcome. Hope we see some of that.

To me, Kirk's Constitution speech is the main thing that episode has going for it....

I'm alright with it...it's not Top Ten material, nor is it the Worst Episode Ever.

I have always though it was criminal not to preserve and release those interviews. I agree about the set being a slam-dunk; it is for me as well.

Since that content was produced independently by SciFi, I wonder if they never secured the proper rights from the interviewees (which would have cost more) as they didn't think there was much value in those rights if they didn't own the primary content.

If I'm not mistaken, some of those interviews were used in the Starfleet Access features on the Blu-ray.
