I just finished reading this Trek novel. I wanted to get one point clarified and ask a question about another.
I will put the questions in spoilers.

Spoiler: Who was she

Was the combined character of Zoe Querez and Qat Zaldana really Amanda Q?

Spoiler: What did this mean

When Spock finishes the mind meld which puts Kirk and Christopher's minds back into their bodies. What did it mean when he spoke about the rings of time like he had some big revelation?

I wanted to hint that she was a Q, but, no, I wasn't thinking of Amanda.

Honestly, I wrote that book four years ago so my memory is fuzzy. I'll have to look that up when I get the chance. Sorry. Scary to realize that I've written at least four Trek book since then!

Another person the character of Zoe reminded me of was Rain Robinson. And the reason that thought came to me was

Didn't you have Rain Robinson working for Roberta Lincoln after Gary Seven "retired" in one of your Khan trilogy books? Of course, Rain wouldn't be that young by the year 2020. But I had figured out Zoe/Zaldana was a Q a few pages later.

Good call. In fact, at one point,when I was first brainstorming that book, Zoe WAS going to be Rain Robinson, but I couldn't make that work so I ended up inventing a new character instead.. So, yes, she's definitely a "Rain Robinson" type.
