The Tom thing is even bothersome.

They are both Will. Period. "Tom" must feel himself just as much the original person as he has *always* been and must even think of the "other" one as the double. To lose even your *name* ?? Your self identity??? Its gotta be a real mindfark.

He did that by choice though. Chose to go by his middle name, which Will admits he never liked. I think Tom was already striving to distance himself from the man he was, the man Will is.
