I'm starting to think the real question facing Discovery is where do you draw the line at ?
Namely at what point does the price to win at any cost become too high ?
This question can not only be used for Starfleet, but the Klingon Empire as well.
Where do you draw the line at ? Once you cross that line you can never go back.
That in itself would turn this into an alternate reality once that line is crossed.
The line in question being that after crossing it, it's suddenly...
" We have met the enemy & it is us " ( to paraphrase Pogo )
All the pieces are being put into place bit by bit, I think this is where the show is heading, at least that's how it seems to me anyway, it's a crossroads, we're watching it happen were it turns at this crossroad is the reason this time period was picked for the show, and I think it will be an interesting journey to see where it goes.
