5 years from now, we'll probably be laughing at this as spending on AI would have plateau'd. At least I'd think that they'd get more power and memory efficient as the technology improves, allowing us to utter a sigh of relief on the hardware front.
I think it's just so unfortunate that it's been several years in a row of bad luck due to tech-related issues out of our control that have been blowing up the prices. The fact that Valve have had to delay their Steam Machine shows how nuts this has all been.
I've been in the market for a new phone, and the current one I have is midrange, and it's been a good one, but I've had it for about 5 years and it only ever had 2 years of OS and security updates.
When looking around at specs and comparing, I've realized that what my carrier has on offer has left me feeling a little limited on my choices, as some of the other midrange phones seem to have lower specs, so I'd be going backwards, so I eventually settled on getting a Pixel 9a. I would have waited for the 10a which is supposed to come out on March 5th, but the prices for it aren't any better than the 9a, and with taxes and all, I'm still nearly paying $1000 for this phone, which is crazy when you realize it's not even in the top range.
