The Thomas Jane version sucks far, far worse for one reason and one reason alone.

The poor and pointless use of the late, great Roy Scheider.

Come on, you all know it's true.
They wasted that man's time and talent on that film.
He's the only true A-List actor in that shit and his part was forgettable.

We all know he should have been the villain and not suck ass Travolta.

Admit it.

Now say: Uncle.

In the 04 movie doesn't it take place in Tampa and he gets resurrected by a voodoo doctor or something??? I haven't seen it since it came out.

What, you're unfamiliar with the dark and seedy underworld of Tampa? It makes Gotham City look like Fantasy Island. :)

I actually grew up in St. Pete which is across the bay from Tampa, so seeing the locations in that movie made it look extremely boring :p :D I mean really the Punisher in FLORIDA?

Maybe the next Punisher reboot will take place in America's new crime capital -- Salt Lake City!

From the sound of things, should I return my Punisher: War Zone Blu-ray to the store?

War Zone was alright. It was more faithful to the comics and used several bits from Garth Ennis. It wasn't amazing though. And at times, it looked incredibly cheap. For example, some of the exterior shots were literally still images like a photo, and not actual footage of a building. It really screamed 1990s television to me...

I rather liked War Zone. It reminded me of the good olde days of the 80s action movie. The hero was a nigh indestructible killing machine. The villians all died in elaborate and bloody fashion. In other words, it was a whole lot of fun.

My thing is this: With a couple of small script tweaks, they could've just given Jane the Punisher role again and had this be a sequel to the first one.

But noooooooooooooo, reboots are too cool.
