The problem with HDTV

Doesn't it always though? "14" isn't that a bit tiny" "Depends on the viewing distance, I sit a foot away and it does me fine."

I've had mates with the same problem, though mostly experienced with old consoles on HD. The thing that really put me off was a similat statement made by a guy who I was trying to sell Sky HD to.
I can barely see a thing anyway these days, I don't want my TV to make it worse
Never underestimate the wonders of a cheap car. My first was only £150. And only one of the doors fell off.
Only one you say? One door out of 4 isn't bad, with quality like that, why would anyone ever bother buying new?
Yeah. I wouldn't tell him to his face, but I've seen better HD, too. As you'll note above, I said the picture was "very very good," which for a TV that size that set him back about $2500, is damning with faint praise.
My thoughts exactly. A bit of duct tape and it was fine.
My boyfriend and I are in a little predicament. His mom gave us an HDTV as a gift and we can't afford to buy any HD programming/DVDs so we only watch SD on it. It's only slightly bigger than the CRT we were using and honestly I would like to switch back to the CRT (and my boyfriend does too). But his mom will likely be pissed if we sell the TV. I feel like she shouldn't be because before Christmas she actually asked my boyfriend if he wanted an HDTV and he said no, he can't afford any HD service so it would be a waste of money. She doesn't like to listen much so she bought it anyway. What would you do?
Keep the TV, one day you will have HD service and you will already have the TV to go along with it. No need to annoy his Mom and then end up buying an HDTV in the next few years.
You can pick up quite a good HDTV for less than that, so I don't know where you got the idea that a cheap HDTV would cost more than that.
Heck Bestbuy.com which isn't the most competitive website out there has HDTV's starting at $199.99 right now. Granted that's a 19inch TV but still you can get a lot for less than $1500!
Most of the time it looks fine on mine. If I'm watching something in SD, I leave the black bars on the side. I can't stand stretching it out. Anyway, half the stuff I watch is old, so I'd better get used to it, anyway.
Hook it up to a regular old-style antenna and you can at least get your local stations (and local network affiliates) in native HD.
I agree in December I bought a Toshiba 42" which I am very happy with for around $940. I love the picture quality I get on it.
