The Princess and the Frog trailer

Looks good. But how long until someone says it's racist?

I've honestly been wondering if Disney is paranoid about doing cartoons of black people. They managed to do two animated movies set in Africa (The Lion King and Tarzan) without depicting black people. It was downright weird. Hey Fantasia was a long, long time ago, and that scene has been censored for decades. Get over it, Disney!

This movie looks cute, even if Shrek has already covered that particular turf...

I get the horrible feeling that it will either be great or very very bad. Hoping for 2D animations sake it's the former.

They've been paranoid since Song of the South.

Frogs aren't fuzzy, but they are animals.

All the talk about 2D vs. 3D misses the mark, I think, regarding the primary audience, ie, children. They don't really make decisions about what movies they want to see along those lines, and it's not like they're biassed against 2D anyway (pretty much all the cartoons they watch are 2D).

I disagree. One of the things that has always set the Disney full length animated films apart from the rest of the cartoon movies out there is that they were meant to be enjoyed by adults as well as children. They've got adult messages as well as childhood morals. They teach lessens while entertaining. Even their less serious movies, like Emperor's New Groove, still had plenty of adult humor. So I don't think the opinion of the children is really the selling point with these big 2-D movies.

The bottom line for me is that it just doesn't feel like a big Disney movie. I may be proved wrong, but from the previews I've seen...it seems more on a level with movies like Anastasia than Lion King or Mulan.

Anastasia was a fantastic film IMO, great music. Mulan was as wonderful as well.

Emperor's New Groove has to be one of the more underrated movies that Disney has produced. Four words:

I'm a llama again

One of my favorite quotes ever.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I like Anastasia and I think it's got some beautiful songs in it. But it lacks the overall granduer of Disney magic. That's why I put Frog Princess girl in the same catagory.

Emperor's New Groove is so awesome that my cousin, who normally keeps tracks of these things, was surprised when I told him it was a Disney film. For some reason he thought it was a Dreamworks or other film since it's so different then the normal Disney style. And he'd seen it like three times at that point

That might be because it was produced by Twentieth Century Fox, not Disney.
