It just seems to me that ANY contact would be a breach of General Order #1

My thinking is that just being in an inapropriate(?) place and time would already have changed things....To say nothing about Daniels on NX-01 Enterprise...

I've given myself a headache thinking about this....

I think I prefer Kirk and post-Xindi Archer...Out the airlock-no questions asked...unless, of course , answers are forthcoming....

Yes in general, but Daniels was responding to the Prime Directive being broken by an outside influence, so he was compelled by the Prime Directive to try and minimize the influence, as Kirk was compelled to arm the natives in 'A Private Little War'. He wouldn't have done it normally, but as a response to the Klingon violation of the PD, it was the lesser of two evils.
