The Prime Directive and the Mirror Universe

Wouldn't you think that the Prime Directive would apply to any Starfleet officers that visit the Mirror Universe? Sisko & the DS9 gang seemed to ignore it and I'm sure Kirk did too (though it has been too long since I've seen the TOS MU episode for me to remember anything).

Since inter-universe travel isn't that common, I'm not sure Starfleet or the Federation would have gotten around to amending the Prime Directive in relation to it yet. Also, the times that Sisko and the Gang (Man I wanna see that show) went to the MU weren't really on purpose. Except of course for Shattered Mirror, but that was more of a rescue mission. And Kirk certainly didn't go there on purpose, and even while there, did his best in remain incognito.

Beaker doesn't consider anything beyond the Original Series and The Motion Picture to actually be Star Trek (it could be more, I'm not sure where he puts the third season and The Animated Series on his scale), so any reference to the Prime Directive after that doesn't count as far as he's concerned, specifically Bashir's line about Starfleet interferring in the internal politics of a foreign power being prohibited.

The PD was a specific Starfleet regulation that dictated what could and couldn't be said when visiting primitive planets. It was NOT a non-interference philosphy.

I started a thread like this a while ago. I say Kirk should have assumed the role of mirror-Kirk until they found a way home. So as to not interfere. Including blasting the Halkans out of the sky.

The prime directive has been bent broken and twisted into meaning different things at different times. Don't bother looking for consistency:vulcan:
