The Predator remake/reboot

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else before, but has anyone else heard about this?

I must say I was fucking annoyed when I heard about this rumour and I hope Predator doesn't have a remake or a reboot to the franchise, if something isn't broke don't fix it.

Any thoughts?

Predator?

Really? Of all the things to choose from, someone would choose to remake THAT?

If they really want to dip their bucket in that well AGAIN, why not just make another sequel? At least there, they could try to add something different to it.

Predator is a fucking 80's classic. You don't mess with perfection. 3 awful sequels were bad enough. It goes to prove that everything and anything is crap that doesn't have Arnold in it.

"Git tooo daaa chopppaaahhhh!!!"

Some things are better left as they are.

Like PREDATOR.

Either make a quality 3rd film or make nothing.

Shame being the Pred series now has those fecal avp flicks polluting it.

Hows'bout'somethin'ORIGINAL & NEW instead:confused:

:wtf: Hollywood's PTB :brickwall:

My son was a chatty-Cathy about Alien VS Predator (he's 14) when I showed him that I had the DVD's for Alien and Aliens as well as Predator. Predator really got his attention, "Hey, how come he's killing those big Army guys -- ewww, he skinned the one dude" and then, he screamed and shielded his eyes like a big sissy while watching Aliens

Definitely don't mess with the classics.

I love both of the Predator movies - classic 80s sci-fi action cheeeeeeeze. Fantastic stuff. A remake sounds like a terrible idea.

How about a proper AvP movie, one that's actually based on the comic series (which was damn good). I'd prefer that over a bad Predator remake.

Well what annoys me is that my nephew loves AvP and about a month ago I had to "babysit" for him, so I decided to show him Alien and Predator films and he seemed confused. He kept asking me in Predator why the Predator was "evil", and because he had watched AvP before the Alien or Predator series' he actually believed that the Predators were protagonists!!!! Of all things to take from the dreadful AvP movie.

I think something like Halloween or Friday the 13th has room for a reboot or a remake of the franchise, but something classic like Predator doesn't, but like I said, I would like to see a third Predator movie.

Predators as protagonists came about long before the AvP movies. It goes back to the AvP comics and video games, particularly the arcade classic. Dutch (who has a cybnetic gun-arm) and a sword-wielding Japanese woman teaming up with two predators to destroy an infestation of Aliens on Earth, nothing could be more awesome.
The thing to remember, though, is that the Predators are honorable hunters who always seek out challenging prey. This doesn't make them bad guys, but it does make them very dangerous to anyone who can putting up a fight.

The original Predator films are sufficiently self-contained and stand-alone that one can do a sequal that ignores them without bothering for a total reboot. But they should seriously consider doing a real AvP movie, with Aliens, Predators, and Space Marines. I also wouldn't mind seeing Aliens versus Predator versus Terminator.

Instead of redoing it they just need to keep building on it. Forget that AVP crap that came out where they were fighting in small town America.

I would like to see a Predator movie from the Predator PoV, perhaps through a semi-documentary style with exposition provided by a narrator (kinda like the Predator: Concrete Jungle game), where the Predator survives and done in such a way that provides some insight into the Predators' culture beyond the whole honorable hunters shtick that a bunch of the comics and novels ran with.

:guffaw:BWA-HA-HA ''screamed and shielded his eyes'' and he's 14? :wtf: You have ''got'' to be kidding!:guffaw: I saw ALIEN, & BOTH PREDATOR movie's when I was 12, and LOVED them!(still do!:techman:) Oh, and please never let your son watch the remake of THE FLY! if he had trouble with ''both''ALIEN & PREDATOR Movies, then he'll die from fright from the fly.

Now that's funny! how old is your nephew anyway? I take not old enough to see the ''REAL'' movies huh?

It doesn't? They're serial killers.

Some things could use a remake. Some things need a remake. Some things don't need a remake, but certainly can't be hurt by one. But Predator?!? It was a great movie that doesn't really need any work done. If they really need another Predator movie, then just stick to the sequels. Hollywood is running out of ideas and getting silly now.

DUDE! Hollyweird's been ''SILLY'' for a LOOOONNNGGGG time!:D

I came across this 30m rendition of Predator as a World of Warcraft machinima a while back. It's not bad for what it is.

A remake would be pretty surreal and hilarious, I'm just picturing some actors playing ersatz versions of Arnie, Jesse, and Bill Duke.

As for a reboot, what would be the difference between that and a sequel?

I guess to be fair, it has been 20 years and the movie has hit its nadir with "vs." movies so it would generally be fair game by Hollywood standards.
