I was surprised to see this didn't have a recent thread, so I'm starting one.
The Predator is the next film in 20th Century Fox's popular Predator franchise, following 1987's Predator, 1990's Predator 2, and 2010's The Predator. While it doesn't appear to be a direct sequel to any of the earlier movies, according to IGN's analysis of the new trailer, it does take place in the same universe as the earlier movies, and will acknowledge them.

  • Boyd Holbrook as Quinn McKenna, Emily’s ex-husband and the father of Rory and a former Marine and Special Forces commando who discovers the existence of the fierce Predators but finds that no one believes they exist. James Franco was originally offered the role but passed on it before Benicio del Toro was cast, who later had to back out due to scheduling conflicts.
  • Trevante Rhodes as Nebraska Williams, a former Marine who enlists in a special Predator-hunting operation headed up by Quinn, his best friend.
  • Jacob Tremblay as Rory McKenna, Emma and Quinn's troubled son, who has a form of autism and is bullied in school but becomes a key player in the fight against the Predators due to his preternatural ability to learn languages.
  • Keegan-Michael Key as a man who teams up with Quinn and Williams to fight the Predators.
  • Olivia Munn as Casey Bracket, a disgruntled science teacher who joins the crew's mission.
  • Sterling K. Brown as a government agent who jails Quinn but later needs his help with fighting the Predators.
  • Alfie Allen as a former Marine who teams with several other outsiders, including Quinn, to stop the human-hunting Predators in suburbia.
  • Thomas Jane as a military veteran from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

  • Yvonne Strahovski as Emily McKenna, Quinn's ex-wife and the mother to Rory.

After movies set in the jungle (Predator), near future LA (Predator 2), and their own game preserve planet (Predators), this time we'll be in suburbia.

Plot description via 20th Century Fox:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

I enjoyed the original Predator and Predators, and I've enjoyed all of Shane Black's stuff I've seen, so this is one of my most anticipated movies this year. The trailer looked good, so I'm pretty confident I'll enjoy this.
 
Looks kind of meh to be honest. There's nothing particularly bad about it, it just isn't really hooking me. Then again, the only Predator movie with any kind of re-watch value for me is the original, and even that I find myself more interested in the storyline about the military unit fighting the terrorists than I am anything involving the Predator. And of course, Jesse Ventura has all the best lines.

I liked the first trailer, but this one was even better.
 
The second trailer downplays the suburbia aspect a bit. I'm a big fan of the first two flicks, but I'm a bit skeptical with this one. I expect a bit more than a decent popcorn flick from this franchise so I hope there is something new to add to the overall story. 'Predators' was able to do that for the most part. Hopefully this one will too.
 
I rewatch the original Predator every two years. I finally got Hawkin's second pussy joke.

It was, but I'm still very meh. This whole concept of the superpredator sounds like pure dumb one-upping instead of trying to think of something new. And the visual design of it is really poor.

I enjoy this series, including the first AvP(let's not discuss the second one), as they all are re-watchable to me. They all have a different hook as noted above by another: jungle, city, alien planet

The trailers I've seen of this one just do not hook me though and I felt that hook on the others. I was a bit too young to see the original in the theater but been there for the others. Because of that I'm sure I'll find myself supporting this hoping for the best despite not being WOW'd by what I've seen. I figured Shane Black would deliver a film in this series that screamed "SEE ME!!!!!!"
It still might be but we'll see.
 
I'll be going to see this. I've enjoyed all the other Predator films with the exception of AvP: Rectum... err Requiem...
 
I'm intrigued. I'm also a huge Predator fan. I'm also a bit of an outlier as I hate AvP but actually kind of like AvP: Requiem because the Wolf Predator is a badass and it's cool seeing him going from calm and collected to seriously pissed off at the situation over the course of the movie.
