ZOMG.

The KOTCS alien is a young Neimoidian.

The Neimoudians are actually kind of close IMO to the Cantina aliens known as the Duros, the two green guys with red eyes who are arguing. Originally they were going with CG and would closely resemble the Battle Droids (The design used for them would eventually be semi-reused for the Geonosians in AOTC and ROTS). The EU has taken this a step further, saying that the Neimodians are in fact descended from Duros.

It's possible George actually meant for them to *be* Duros, since neither Neimoudians or Duros are mentioned in dialogue in any of the films. If you look at the other OT aliens who appear in the prequels (Such as the three-eyed Gran, or "Ree yees"), they also seem to look a lot different and more detailed.

I expect the theatres to milk this for all its worth by limiting 2D showings so that people are forced to see them in 3D. This will likely be the case at least in Canada where there's a lack of competition.

I had zero problems finding a 2D showing of the Lion King when it was rereleased in 3D and 2D this year.

Yeah, but how often is a 2D showing compared to the 3D showing? They usually don't have very many of them as they like to focus on 3D. Usually the case would be to go to a different theatre, but that can be problematic if there isn't another one.
Our theaters actually play more 2D shows because nobody goes to see the 3D versions of movies. If 3D is my only option, I just don't see the movie.

Sheesh, that 3D backlash is getting old very fast. Then go see it in 2D. I personally see no harm in it - it's a new dimension to these old films. Literally. I look forward to seeing all of them. Besides, even without 3D, the best way to see Star Wars is in a movie theater. For that reason alone, this is a treat.

I thoroughly dislike 3D, but I'll give TPM 3D a shot. Who knows, maybe it'll shift my perspective regarding the new tech. Failing that, I'll watch The Hobbit in 3D. If I'm still not sold by then, I'll give up on the gimmick.

As for a TPM re-release ... I thoroughly enjoyed the first run and have plenty of nostalgia for seeing it in the theaters. Obvious flaws aside, I'm psyched to see it again on The Big Screen™.

I wouldn't even bother with TPM - it's a conversion, not a real 3D film like the Hobbit.

The trailer should say "Get disappointed all over again - this time in 3D!!!"
How can anyone be disappointed going to see a movie that has been so thoroughly panned (particularly online) in the past 12+ years? Fact is, TPM is a known quantity. No need to go see it if you didn't like it, or suspect that it (still) won't meet your expectations. Why not let those of us who still enjoy the film go and see it in 3D, enjoy the experience (as much as 3D will allow), and leave the abject cynicism behind the keyboard for once?

I, for one, know precisely the kind of film I am going to see in the theater. I'm looking forward to seeing a film I enjoyed during release back in the theaters. And I'm curious to see how the 3D gimmick will translate into Star Wars. The 3D conversion might be underwhelming. But the obvious flaws of the PT won't diminish my decision to see the 3D presentation, nor my potential enjoyment of it.

Well, if LFL is to be believed (an understandably shaky proposition given the quality of the recent BluRay releases), the 3D conversion of the films is supposed to be top-notch. Meaning that they ought to set the standard for 3D conversion of 2D films. If TPM looks bad in 3D, then the last chance I'll give the current incarnation of the 3D medium is The Hobbit -- which is being filmed explicitly for 3D presentations.

3D will not help shit movie improve its appeal. If anything, it'll just add more headaches.
3D won't alter the quality of TPM one iota. What it can do, is alter the experience. I happen to like TPM, so I'm curious to see whether or not the 3D presentation improves my enjoyment of the film. Given how underwhelmed I have been with 3D thus far, I have my doubts. But I'm willing to go into the theater with an open mind.

I still have yet to see a film in 3D, but I might actually go and see this. Consider me a glutton for punishment. Though, if I do, it'll have to be by myself. Most of the people I know who like Star Wars hate the PT beyond all hope, and the ones that don't, hate 3D.

Not going to even bother with this. If they wanted people to see Star Wars in 3D why not start with the films people would actually go see...like episodes 4-6. You know Lucas is not done tweaking them. I am sure for the 3D presentation they changed some of the effects sequences.

The asteroid chase in Empire looks 1000% better than the video game like effects in the asteroid belt in Attack of the Clones.

Plus it had better music-the Asteroid chase is one of my favorite themes from the films. It even got used as the title music for the ESB Super Nintendo game.

All we got in AOTC was silence and then generic chase music. Although those sonic charges were pretty nice sound design.
