The Phantom Menace 3D Release

Cameron isn't anymore though. His King of the World attitude has considerably changed in the decade between Titanic and Avatar.

I was the only person who waited to the very end of the credits to hear Darth Vader breathing, SILLY PEOPLE !!

Typical. No one watches the credits anymore. Everyone's time is so "precious".

In 1999 I was one of the few people in the theater who stayed to watch the entire run of end credits. Most of the other people were gone by the time you heard the sound of Vader's breathing, but I thought it was soooooo cool. Perfect foreshadowing and one of the really nice, subtle touches in Episode I.

But is Lucas going to make further changes to the original trilogy for their 3D release? Thats whats bothering me! :cardie:
Nah, they're the same as the Blu ray versions, but just in 3D
So says GL in This Article
"My job is to try to make the best possible movie it can be - and the current version is the Blu-ray version," he said. "That's the one that's been made into 3D. But it's just a conversion. We haven't made any changes other than the 3D."

The same site also offer a fair review Here
Strip away the hype and the overwhelming expectations of '99 and The Phantom Menace is not nearly as terrible as you remember it.
I would agree with that

This would be one of the top movie moments of my life. Didn't know it was coming, always stayed to the very end of the credits. Chilling, wonderful touch.

At the end of the credits in ST:XI there was a dedication to Majel Roddenberry.

Got home a hour ago from taking the oldest to see it.

It was fun to see a Star Wars movie on the big screen again--and Episode I is a favorite for pretty sentimental reasons. But we either had a really shitty theater or the 3D is not that great cause at best it was average. And it seemed like the didn't even bother to make the final saber-duel 3D--which I was looking forward to seeing, and the podrace went from "okay" to blurry-mess.

Over all I could have save $2 a ticket and saw the 2D print they had running in the auditorium next to ours.

Somehow my review got 'lost in translation', so we'll try this again. I went and saw the film in 3D this afternoon, and have to say that, honestly, I enjoyed it even MORE this time around than I ever have before, even when I saw it for the first time nearly 13 years ago. I was expecting more 'jump in your seat' 3D moments, but seeing the opening crawl (which I think is the best in the Saga) rendered in 3D was a neat and surreal experience.

I also don't think I stopped smiling once during the entire 146 minute runtime.

146 minutes, huh? I haven't gone yet(going tomorrow evening if all goes according to plan) but does that mean all the deleted scenes were put back into the film for the 3D release? The Theed waterfall sequence, too? If so that would be cool. I understand why Lucas and McCallum left it out of the 1999 release but after they finished refining the effects of the scene it looks pretty good(even if the scene doesn't add a thing to the movie's narrative).

There weren't any new scenes added other than what was added when the film premiered on DVD; the only thing that is part of the 3D release is the
digital Yoda that was added when the film made its debut on BluRay.
, so the 146 minute runtime (which equals 2 hours and 26 minutes) is, I believe, the same as the DVD and BluRay runtime.

If you enjoyed the film previously, you should enjoy it this time around, but, if you're not new to SW and/or weren't already a fan of the Prequels, the 3D release isn't likely to make you change your mind. Still, I think it's worth seeing.

Oh, okay. I've already seen the new digital Yoda so that means everything else will be old news to me. But that's cool. It's a pretty good movie and I've never seen it in 3-D, so those are the only reasons I really need.

I just saw TPM in 3D. I enjoyed the experience. Qui-Gon and Darth Maul are my favorites. Duel of the Fates on the big screen was awesome as always.

My theater also gave me special Darth Maul 3D glasses. I think this might be a limited time thing. Did anyone else get this?

^
They're a limited-time-only promotion for people who visited certain theaters(AMC chain?) on opening weekend. Congrats on scoring them. It'd be cool if I get a pair when I go tomorrow night, but we'll see.

I just got back from seeing it at a Pacific Theatre. We got the collectable glasses, as well. I've always enjoyed this film. It was really nice watching it with my son on one side of me and my daughter on the other. Her first Star Wars in a theater, and the first she's seen start to finish. She's ready to watch more, so mission accomplished.

Good to hear. My oldest (9) mostly knows Star Wars through Clone Wars and he loved it. That's the main thing about Star Wars: It's fun. Take all the nerd-rage BS out of it, and just have a fun time with the kids.
