The Phantom Menace 3D Release

I never thought I'd see the day, but I'll be damned if I'm not coming around to liking Jar Jar or at the very least not resenting his very presence. Between Best's loyalty to the character, his appearances on Robot Chicken and his actually being used to proper effect in Clone Wars, He may just ultimately in the fullness of time be counted among the classic heroes of Star Wars.

Of course were probably talking pretty full.

Like children's children's children full.

Well, considering that The Phantom Menace was written and directed by someone who's mentally handicapped...
I love it when a "nobody" (I hope the mods notice quotation marks) calls a man who revolutionized the film industry (and made billions of $$$ doing it) "mentally handicapped". :guffaw:

Wouldn't that mean that being born with normal (or above average) mental abilities is a curse these days, and not a blessing?

I took my 9 year old son last night. He had a great time since he's seen all the SW movies a couple of times, but the only one he had seen on the big screen was Clone Wars. This one was better than I had remembered.
Does anyone know how often they're going to release these in 3D?
I

^ They haven't really said. Last I read, at present there were only plans for TPM. My guess is that if it's a success, they'll release the others a year apart.

TPM: February 2012
AOTC: 2013
ROTS: 2014
ANH: 2015
TESB: 2016
ROTJ: 2017

I couldn't tell you what time of said year each 3D movie will be released, but I heard a few people on some of the STAR WARS fan boards say winter or spring, around the same time as Episode I. Hope this helps. Take it for what you will. Like Mach5 stated, even Rick McCallum said things are still partially up in the air. But if the release of Episode I is any sort of success in the eyes of Lucasfilm and Fox then I think the one-per-year schedule will be something of a safe bet.

^
That means two things:

1.) Episode I's domestic box office gross has now swollen to at least $454 million, putting it just seven million dollars short of surpassing the original movie(A NEW HOPE) as the highest-grossing STAR WARS film in the United States and Canada. If the first weekend is any indicator, then this feat will likely occur by February 18th and TPM will probably hold the crown for the next three years until ANH 3-D comes out. Episodes II and III didn't make nearly as much as the first prequel in their original domestic runs so I don't think either will come anywhere close to $461 million after their respective 3D releases.

2.) This almost certainly guarantees one 3D STAR WARS film per year barring the complete flopping of Episode II in 2013, and as subpar as that film is I just don't see it bombing. Even disappointing STAR WARS makes money.

Yes, AOTC is already being prepped for release in February of next year. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter Lucas said the release schedule is still somewhat up in the air and the remaining films may shift around dates.

The implication was also that he full expects all 6 films to be released and will eventually release them in blu-ray 3-D when the home technology is a little more reliable.

Yancy

The schedule COULD even be speed up. I would like to see two a year. Perhaps with a second release within a particular year at some point in the fall. Wishing thinking of course.

If theaters don't give out free hoverboards with STAR WARS logos on them I'm going to be seriously disappointed.:vulcan:

I heard the hoverboards in Back to the Future Part 2 were real, and the reason you don't see them available to the public is because the makers would be sued for all the accidents that would happen.

[OBLIGATORY URBAN MYTH THAT HAS TO BE MENTIONED WHENEVER B2F:PT2 IS BROUGHT UP] ;)

I wouldn't be shocked in the least if NASA and the CIA have had hoverboard technology for years. The general public is always the last to find out. They probably have entire skate parks constructed underground at Area 51.

Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who's brave enough to discover the truth for us!!! :shifty:
