Marvel and Anime/Manga have an interesting history. Artists who have worked for Marvel such as Joe Maduera were anime influenced, and at one point they even got a manga artist to do some issues of Uncanny X-men.
The 90's X-men toon was also popular in Japan, where it got it's own anime opening and manga adaptation which was reprinted by Marvel.
Also the early 2000 Mangaverse and Tsunami imprints. (Pretty much all canceled, although that Mystique series was OK.)
Plus there's a ton of Japanese versions of Spider-Man, most of which bear small resemblance to Peter Parker.
