I loved Daktari. I especially liked Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion and the chimp (who was named Judy - if I remember correctly).

The only thing I actually remember from that series is part of a storyline where a big hairy spider is closing in on the cage of a bunny and Judy (I think you're right!) takes the bunny out of the cage. Later, when the substitute caretaker (the colonel???) is to follow some list of what to do during the day he get's to the bunny cage and reads from the list that he must brush the critter in that particular cage, by now a tarantula! -scary hilarity ensues as he brushes the big spider with a toothbrush...

As an aside, my wife and I were talking about this the other day: Remember back to '60s-'70s TV shows, the kind of "rock and roll" music they would play when a young character was listening to the radio, at a party etc.? Just really bad, generic electric guitar, organ and sometimes saxophone "jamming," nothing like anyone ever heard on the real radio. It's pretty funny to hear stuff like that nowadays.

Here's something that made me feel young...so I was at the doctor's office today and someone asked me if I was a bodybuilder...he went on to hand me his card and told me he was a pro photographer and wanted to take some photos of me. I told him i was going to lean out in the spring but I'd call. I checked out his website and he wants guys under 29 years old...he thought I was under 29!

I loved those cartoons when I was a kid. They're absolutely terrible. They did little more than cut pictures out of the comics and add slight animation-- they didn't even use the same artist all the time.
Each character also had his own individual theme song. "When Captain America throws his mighty shield... all those who chose to oppose his shield must yield...." It's like it was written by Bob Dylan....

The above is the old original 'Space Crusier Yamato' theme (called Starblazers in the U.S.) set to a scence from a recent and new Yamato amimated feature film released in Japan in December 2009. I was 15 when Starblazers hit the air in 1978 (actually what I saw first was the 'Space Cruiser Yamato series compilation feature film shown on Tom Hatten's Family Film Festival on weekend on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles; and I was a fan of Anime ever since.

For me, Star Trek TAS was my favorite childhood cartoon. Still is. I watch the DVD set at least once a year. Another one I liked was the 1977 Batman Animated show that reunited Adam West and Burt Ward. Filmation also made that, and even used some of the same music as Star Trek. I was happy to rediscover it through the DVD's last month.
