THE ORVILLE Season Three...

Deadline confirms what other trade sites are reporting: The Orville is renewed for a third year.

It’s official. Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi adventure series The Orville will return for a third season on Fox.

The renewal is not unexpected. Things were looking bright for a Season 3 renewal when the series received approval for $15.8 million in the latest round of TV tax credits for a third season, up from the $14.5 million incentive it got for Season 2. While landing a tax credit does not guarantee a pickup, it makes it more likely. The series also has strong support from the network.

The Orville has developed a devoted following and excels in delayed and on-demand viewing. In its first season, it averaged 10.7 million total viewers in multi-platform audience, up 149% from its Live+Same Day delivery. This past season-to-date. The Orville averaged 1.4 and 1.81 million viewers in adults 18-49 and 5.4 million total viewers. Its Season 2 ender drew a 0.7 rating and 2.92 million viewers in Live+Same Day.

What a wonderful surprise! Beyond happy. @ tharpdevenport I actually had a long post written up comparing our plight to that of the Browncoats in Firefly. Yet sometimes good guys do win!

Bah, the good guys didn't win, the tax payers of CA took another wallop so a show could have a third season. If those tax breaks people always complain about when other companies get them, hadn't happened, there wouldn't be a third season. That break was one Twinkie so big not even Ed and Gordon could split it.

Sure, a new reason to be pissed off, but there's nothing to be done about it now -- show's going on.

Looking forward to a badass third season...I hope.

Very happy news. Really hope they expand the universe some more, and focus on some of the other races we haven't seen much of, like the Xelayans, Gelatins, and maybe even whatever Dan is.

Boo-hoo. Industry jobs stay in California rather than going to Toronto. A good reason for a tax break.
Yay, more Unionized jobs that are bankrupting the state, increasing taxes which is de-populating CA at an increasing rate, and pushing out competition by picking one winner over another.

And all this soft tyranny for a TV show!
