The Original TOS Characters... Too Perfect and Less Plot Threads...???

Yes, they are flawed, and that's what made them so compelling, IMHO.

On the other hand, the TOS characters are not the angst-y, petty, oversensitive, sniveling, whining, passive-aggressive, entitled, backstabbing sociopaths of contemporary television programs that make me want to throw a rock at the TV.

Interesting. This made me consider that perhaps television characters basically reflect the current society...

Secondly, there were not that mainly character threads in the plot that made me like them and have them move forward in the plot.

^^ (I think you mean many?) Just an opinion, but I'm not sure that individual character threads were all that important... (they were minor) more important was the fact that the show was incorporating thinly veiled reflections of current issues. The diversity of the crew without stereotypes and their ability to work together to solve life-threatening crises provides a unified hero's journey that is evident in every episode pretty blatantly, I think. :)

Yes, I am pretty sure that was what I mean... should I edit it?
