The Original James Blish Paperback Art

Oh, for pity's sake. When the thread was moved, it left a link in the original TOS section, so it's not like your target audience can't find it.

Sorry to see the post deleted. I love most of the artwork on those original Blish paperbacks. What was the post about?

Thanks. It made no sense for my post to be moved here, because it's supposed to be about how some art relates to the show as such. But a mod wanted to rule with an iron fist. And I've been around long enough to know that when one of them wants to stomp on you, they can do that. :(

Well, I’ll have the conversation if you want.

But other than the James Bama artwork for Star Trek (1) which was art generated by NBC to promote the show, and the promotional photos/manipulated photos for Star Trek 2 & 3 and SMD!, none of the artwork had any connection to the production of the show.

The Eddie Jones (“Fantoni”) artwork on later Bantam paperbacks has an interesting history, originating on various German translations of earlier Bantam titles. I really ought to write an article about that someday…

So just to check, do we have a thread here? If the OP was deleted and there weren't really any replies, I would normally just close the thread. But if @Daddy Todd and others want to continue the discussion, I'm quite happy to leave it open. Let me know.

I'm certain my colleague wasn't trying to "stomp on" you, or anything of the sort. He was just doing his job, part of which involves moving threads to a different forum, if it seems that other forum would be a more appropriate fit.

We have had threads here before discussing cover art, and we have had a number of threads here discussing how the books relate to the various shows, so I think a thread discussing how the cover art relates to the shows is perfectly on-topic. You are, of course, under no obligation to do so, but if you would like to repost your OP, we'd be more than happy to host the discussion here. Obviously, I can't promise any specific level of membership engagement, but it does sound like a topic that would bring in a fair bit of interest. I personally don't have a whole lot of knowledge on this topic, but I'd certainly be interested in reading about it.

OK, it’s been five days without any responses, so I guess there’s not enough interest. I’ll go ahead and close the thread now. If anyone decides they need it reopened, please PM me.
