The origin of your username

A fake rank from a memorable M*A*S*H episode*, apropos for a culture in which fake ranks are so prominent, n'est-ce pas?

* - That would be "Welcome to Korea," which is usually the episode of the entire series that I rank as my favorite, edging out "Abyssinia, Henry," "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen," and a few notable others.

I am named after my cat aka The Real Miss Chicken who passed away in 2013 aged 15 years.
She was born with only three normal legs, the fourth leg was very small and shaped like furry chicken wing hence her name,
I did consider changing my name after her death but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
In combination with the story behind it, your username is probably the best username in the entire history of the internet. At least I think so. :)

My handle was given to me by an Army Spec-4 who couldn't pronounce my last name right, so he just used my rank & initial (never mind that I was a Staff Sgt at the time). Annoyed me at first, but after a while I just accepted it. And then I started using it as my user-name.

I re-did my avatar because someone threaten to report me for using the official USAF rank insignia on non-official discussion forums. I drafted this one just to shut him up.

In my job I have needed to move often hence Nomad, also I was picking names that had already been chosen and since this was the 5th attempt at getting a name not taken, V. So, there you go Nomad V.

My old Beagle, who passed away three years ago. I tried a few names when registering but they were all taken, and a young Finn was laying by me and I decided to go with Finn. The weird thing is that the other choices I had...I've never seen as a lurker before that or ever since.

There is a vague reference in one of the Brian Daley Han Solo novels, I think 'Han Solo and the Lost Legacy', where Han remarks that nobody ever matched Gallandro's kill tally when he was "flying a fighter for Marso's Demons." The implication there being that there was a mercenary (or other) fighter outfit led by a pilot named Marso.

As a lifelong wannabe Jedi and a guy who also wanted to fly fighters, the two halves of my username met at the merge.

"Jedi Marso".

We all have usernames which hide our true identity. This is like a mask that we can put on to hide our true selves and generate an online persona, a virtual projection of ourselves!

How did you choose your username?

I will start. I chose my username by combining my real name with my favourite Star Trek character Seven of Nine. The resulting combination was ‘Timofnine’

Why did *you* choose your username? :D
My original username was just my first initial and my last name. This was back when you could do that and it wouldn't wind up all over Google. Eventually I changed it a few times, but couldn't really settle on things, having a number of identity crisises (crisii?) along the way. Finally, I became Amaris, based on the spiritual name given to me when I prayed to the goddess for help and encouragement.

Locutus means "the one who speaks" or "speaker" so I was going for "speaker of the bored" essentially, along with obviously having it be wordplay off of Locutus of Borg.

Had I known there was already or was going to be someone here with the similar user name "Locutus of Board" I would have probably chosen something different, but there hasn't seemed to be any confusion and I don't even know if we've ever crossed streams in the same thread before.

I had briefly used "Inebriated Slime Devil" at another Trek site before that I haven't been to in years, so if I ever joined somewhere else it would probably be another play on words from a Trek character or creature.

Character in a webcomic I used to draw.

To elaborate on that to make it just a little more interesting. At one point I drew a webcomic called Backwater Planet that never had more than a couple dozen readers.

The main characters were from modern Earth and had to flee into space on an abandoned alien ship they found. Jirin Panthosa was the 4th son of the Emperor. He ran away wanting nothing to do with his position and then helped the humans because they had no idea who he was. Then there was a plot to kill his family and install him as puppet emperor, etc, etc.

Tomalak is my favorite Romulan character in Star Trek (specifically The Enemy and The Defector) and 301 was the number of my boy scout troop. When I joined back in 2003, it was a few months after I received my Eagle and it was on my mind at the time.
