The Origin of the Borg

BrotherofShran0

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
*Preface*
Hi everyone. All of you know about the Borg from TNG. Mostly, the Borg was to be an unstoppable force that was more bee like with a hive mind collective and a later a queen. There is no Canon as to how the Borg originated. I like the concept that William Shatner, Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens came up with. I like the idea that they made Vger as the early Borg, but I intend to take it one step further. I will address the first Borg Queen, Lt. Illa and another female to overthrow her and lay the path for the future Borg queen that we meet in First Contact.

This will be longer that a short story, but not a novel. I will follow canon when possible, but I will be free styling as well. If anyone has any ideas to contribute, when I get PM abilities, please send them to me. Please do not do it in this thread. I will create a separate thread for that.

BTW, I like to use pictures to create what I can't do in words or make it easier to visualize.

So, come on a read a few line ... resistance is futile!

*From the perspective of Lt. Illia inside of the Illia probe aboard V'ger*

The Enterprise, the Captain, the crew, and my beloved Will are here inside of us/them. I still maintain my individuality but at the same time, these "living" machines are calling me to join them. To Join the creator and lead them. They need a new reason for being ... purpose... to reach perfection. I do not know how to deal with them on my own. I am waiting to receive any signal from the Captain or will to act to help my ship and crew. V'ger is becoming impatient, sensing the end of its long journey and is moments of getting what it desires most ... to be one (assimilate?) with the creator. Can that be right? I will not let them harm them, I will be ready to act when the moment comes and the time is right.

So far, My Captain has figured out a lot about V'ger/Us in a short time. Since I know that he is not the creator, V'ger/ Us know it too. As well as Commander Spock who mind melded with V'ger/Us. The Captain is speaking eloquently, trying to reach V'ger/Us but V'ger/Us is not having it. The creator must come here and touch us, be identified, and become one with us.

tmphd2571.jpg

Will has come forward to state his claim on V'ger / Us. I am pleased, but frighten about V'ger / Us will do to Will. I can't stand by and see Earth destroyed because V'ger / Us wants the creator at all cost. I am Starfleet officer. I have my duty to help. If V'ger /Us will accept Will as the creator, I will do everything thing in my power to use this ... body to get V'ger / Us to accept Will as the creator and join (assimilate) with him.

He has made his move, I will back his play. Sorry Captain, it is for the best. The way is clear for you Will.

tmphd2711.jpg

It is done. V'Ger/Us has accepted him as the creator! However, there are some elements of V'ger is not totally on board. I must stand with him, show solidarity with will to get all elements of V'ger in line with the creator Will.

tmphd2727.jpg

I am standing with will, the creator. To show V'ger / Us that the Creator is here and is with Us. I will be that part of V'ger that leads it into acceptance of the creator and keep V'ger / us in line with his commands / instructions to Us.
tmphd2744.jpg

It is time for Us/the creator/V'ger to go far away to our home planet in the Delta quadrant to learn and grow with our creator. To gather resources to gain knowledge and explore the galaxy. To see knowledge to grow in perfection. We are the Creator, we are V'ger!

*Arrival at the Machine Planet (later to be called the Borg Home world)*

Million of machines arrive at the launch / landing area where the V'ger probe took off in search of the creator. Some machines on the Machine planet gave the mission a low chance of success, but when news that the creator hit the planet. The activity to prepare to receive the creator was astounding. Everything was set up to receive and execute the creators commands with lightning efficiency. To facilitate communication with the creator, one machine was selected to speak for the entire machine planet. That way, the creator did not have to repeat any commands. V'ger found redundancy necessary but duplication of effort was considered wasteful if it served no meaningful purpose.

Decker looks around at the millions of machines and was astounded with the different type of shapes these machines came in. He look at the Illia probe and he felt that the humanoid shape was the most versatile form a machine can have. Since Decker did not currently have a humaniod shape, he will see if V'ger can make him one. Also, he knew that Illia was some how in the V'ger probe, but she could not take over this probe and let her personality come out. He will have to do something about that.

Illia, I want to address V'ger said Decker. At once creator, said the Illia probe. the Illia probe interacted with the machines and they informed her that there was a speaker appointed to speak for the whole planet to make it easier to follow the creator's wishes (commands). The Illia probe informs Decker of this, and Decker orders the speaker to identify itself. The machine known as the speaker complies. We are V'ger. We are here to comply with the creator's wishes. We ask the creator to guide us in our quest for knowledge and perfection. Speak and it will be done.

Decker raises his eyebrow after hearing that last bit of information. So, he decided to put V'ger collective to the test. I require that V'ger allow the Illia personality that is in the Illia probe to be able to communicate with me freely. The Artificial Intelligence that operates the Illia probe is unnecessary since the Illia personality can do it herself, said Decker. It will be done, said the speaker. A query came from the V'Ger collective, and the speaker found it worthy of asking the creator. Creator, why is the illia probe and the personality of the carbon base life form know as Illia so important to the creator? said the speaker. Decker took a moment to reflect on this. She is my queen. I love her and can't be with out her. She is very important to me, and you are to follow her command as if it was my own until I tell you otherwise, said Decker. It will be done creator. We will follow her commands as if they were your very own until you tell us otherwise. Decker decided to give one more command for the time being. I want the V'ger collective to create me a probe body in the image that you first saw me. This will please me because I find this a useful form to work with. It will be done creator, said the speaker. I need some time alone with Illia. There are many things that I have to teach the V'ger collective and there are many things that V'ger has learned that I need to know, said Decker. We will gladly do this at once creator, said the speaker. the speaker moved of to meet and select the appropriate machines to comply with the creator's wishes. the speaker decided that if the humanoid form was good enough for the creator, it was good enough for the V'ger collective. the v'ger collective looked into creating humanoid bodies for the next generation of machines. The collective felt that this will please the creator.

It is now 16 years since I have joined V'ger, thought Will Decker. I have had a joyous reunion with Illia and we are doing fine as a couple. We have both had to adjust for not having our original bodies, but the ones that we currently have is working just fine. I have tried to teach V'Ger that carbon based life forms are not infestations of worlds or ships, but useful resources like allies. It is hard for me to try to get V'ger to start thinking in human terms and human morals when it has been acting on its own for hundreds of years. This is a job for the diplomats and teachers, but I am doing the best I can. I feel that V'Ger is like a pre teenager. It is willing to learn what I teach them, but V'ger always have questions and asking why. I have handed come of the responsibilities over to Illia to help V'ger respond and respect her commands as if their were my own, but I beginning to think that they are more willing to listen and learn from Illia more. this should not bother me since they still view me as creator, but what would happen if there is a point in time when V'ger will evolve and outgrow me?

*Point of view from the speaker and the collective*

The creator has teach us much. We are dealing with other races we encounter and gather more knowledge and resources. The creator insists that we create treaties and alliance. We are trying to see the wisdom of this, but it is still a method of obtaining resources that we are not accustom to. We begin to use the knowledge from the vessel that brought the creator to us, the USS Enterprise and the knowledge of the Federation of Planets that creator uses to teach us. We have assimilated the science and technology of the Federation at this time. This knowledge will aid us in building ships and defend against Federation starships if they cause trouble for the Creator. Additionally, we find that most form of human forms of government are not like the collective. They are too complex and fail often when force (economic or military) is used. Oddly enough, in their science knowledge base, there is one species on Earth that is like the collective ... The humans call them bees. They are orderly, they have purpose - to serve their queen. their goal is not to seek perfection, but to take care of their queen and colony (collective). This will suffice for us. We are similar in this way, but we have no queen to serve. We have the creator, but he is not female. he is part of the collective and he serves his queen Illia. We serve Illia as though she is the creator, therefore, Illia will become our queen. the speaker decided to spread this information out to the collective.
As soon as the speaker sent out the information, other machines were quick to point out that as it is true with the bees, there is another potential queen that is born or introduced into the bees collective and the queens do battle. The strongest queen survives and the collective follows her. the speaker considered this. this might not please the creator, so the speaker would not bring that up at this time, but the collective might select possible candidates and evaluate them in secret. therefore, a suitable potential queen would be ready if the creator chooses another queen or the new queen is the winner. The collective approved of this. they reviewed thousands of female candidates from thousands of humanoid species and worlds. they came up with two, T'Pring and one other ...

The Speaker instructed two machines to send out probes with information on a stable Omega Molecule to try to lure T'Pring to an area of space where she can be brought to V'ger and to be further analyze to see if she is worthy of being a potential queen. The speaker figured out that T'Pring would want to gain political power on Vulcan since her failed attempt to get Vulcan to secede from the Federation and the death of her husband Stonn.

As for the other, Dr. Janice Lester ... Her need to lead, to be like a starship captain will make her a good choice for a potential queen. It is fortunate that the rehabilitation treatment Chief Medical Officer Leonard McCoy and medical treatment on the Elba II asylum to help heal her mind. The drive to lead still remains, but not on the level that cause her to do what she did to a starship Captain named Kirk. to lure Dr. Lester is to have her receive rumors of the USS Defiant reappearing near the Tholian border and a mercenary crew was looking for someone with a starship captain skills to command the ship. Sexual gender is not an issue, only the ability to run the ship. this would be a good lure for Dr. Lester, the ability to command a starship so much like the Enterprise that she first desired.

The speaker set both plans in motion and soon (in machine time) both potential queens will be here.

The different machines in the V'ger collective created a AI Difference Engine where all aspects of both T'Pring and Dr. Lester are inputed and evaluated to see which candidate would be the best potential queen. There will not be a physical battle between the potential queens, the machines had no need for that, just neural interfaces to input the potential queens knowledge, personality, and unique qualities that provide an X-factor that would give that queen an edge over another. both queens will only see a holographic representation of what they desire most. They will see each other and become aware of the challenge to reach their objective before the other one or lose what they desire the most. This will motivate them to use all of their inner strength and abilities to reach their objective. All of this is tallies and scored using a system that is unique to V'ger. The outcome is the selection of a queen that will challenge Illa (in the same manner), or neither potential queen being selected because their score is not no where near the score the machines hope for. In that event, both potential queens best and unique qualities will be combined into a single Queen AI to lead the V'ger collective if a humanoid female queen is not deemed worthy to lead the collective.

*The arrival of the potential queens, from the perspective of the Speaker*

Both T'Pring and Dr. Lester has taken the incentive to obtain what they want to attain their personal goal (s). The assigned machines that went to acquire T'Pring and Lester, administered a gas that rendered both potential queens unconscience. This aided the machines in inserting the neural interfaces to the potential queens that is non invasive and not detectable by them. The ladies were taken to a room with two experimental chambers. V'ger has been using these chamber units to repair machines and regenerate humanoid tissue for cybernetic organism that V'ger has come across during its journey to find the creator. The machines hooked the ladies up and transfer the controls to these chambers to a location in a massive room for Virtual reality testing and assimilation. This is where the queens will do battle.

The Speaker ordered the Virtual Reality simulator (VRS) activated and to send the information through the neural interfaces to create the environment that will provide the potential queens to see their desired goal, opponent and take whatever measures to attain that goal. The potential queens conscienceness are now in the VRS. It is time for one of them to prove that she is worthy enough to be a queen that will lead the collective.

*From perspective of T'Pring*

T'Pring awakens in engineering and evaluates her physical and mental condition. I do not seem impaired in anyway at this time thought T'Pring. she began looking at her surroundings and recognized that she was on a Federation Starship like the one that brought Spock to Vulcan for the koon-ut-kal-if-fee, the starship Enterprise. She began to access portion of her mind that retained some of Spock's technical information while she was stilled bonded to Spock. She gather information that Spock would share with her as if he would have gave her a tour of the ship. It is real low level information and would aid T'Pring get around on the ship. She goes over to a computer console to access information that would direct her to the ship's science station and information on the Omega Molecule.

*From the perspective of Dr. Janice Lester*

Dr. Lester awakens to find herself in sickbay. She checks the monitors above her and evaluates the medical information on the biobed screen. All seems normal, she thought. As far as her mental well being, it was about as good as it gets. Dr. Lester looks around for the crew that was to be aboard the USS Defiant, but found no one. She activates the ship's Public announcement (PA) system and sets it to ship wide announcement. "This is Dr. Janice Lester. Is there anyone aboard from the Merc group that contacted me", said Dr. Lester. So far, no response. Dr. Lester felt that since her goal as to take command of this ship, she needed to get to the Bridge and access the main computer to the command codes that will make her captain of this vessel. she exits sickbay and reads towards a turbolift that will take her straight to the main Bridge.

*From perspective of both ladies*

As T'Pring finishes using a computer console to find a turbolift that would get her to the bridge as fast as the chief engineer, T'Pring hears the PA announcement from Dr. Lester. T'Pring runs to an intercom console and hit the switch to use the PA system. "This is Federation citizen of Vulcan, T'Pring. I am aboard this ship and I require you to meet with me in the turbolift heading to the main Bridge to discuss why I have been lured here by you." This stopped Dr. Lester in her tracks. There WAS someone aboard this vessel. Dr. Lester heads towards the nearest intercom and hit the button in anger. "This is DOCTOR Janice Lester, well known Federation scientist and soon to be CAPTAIN of this vessel. How dare you accuse me of such a thing", said Dr. Lester. T'Pring answered back, "Only someone of YOUR scientific knowledge could have left me clues about a stable Omega molecule and that the information was on THIS ship."

Dr. Lester thought for a hot second and knew that T'Pring was no merc. Lester was aware of her Spock's relationship to her, this was no secret in the scientific community. Why Spock chose her as a potential mate was a subject of debate for some time. At any rate, Dr. Lester still went by the saying that a Vulcan can not lie, so she agreed to meet with T'Pring but on my terms. Since T'Pring was not interested in the ship, Dr. Lester would forgo heading to the Bridge for the moment, instead she would have T'Pring meet her on Deck 5 in the Captain's quarters on this ship. That way, she and T'Pring would be on equal footing if T'Pring's objective was to reach the Bridge. If not, Dr. Lester would be closer to reaching her objective, the Bridge and take control of the ship before T'Pring reaches hers ... where ever that place maybe on the ship.

Dr. Lester arrives at the Captain's quarters first, takes the chair that the Captain would sit behind his desk, and waits for T'Pring ...

I won't lie, it's not exactly the easiest thing to read is it? It's often impenetrable, and seems to have the nasty habit of switching almost randomly between the first and third person.

The use of language isn't great, and I wonder if your attentions would be better spent with something slightly lower-concept and smaller in scope for what is presumably your first attempt at writing fan fiction in order to 'learn your trade' as it were.

Perhaps a short story of around 5000 words to begin with and build upon that before tackling something as high-concept as the origin of the Borg Collective?

I am not a writer nor do I claim to be. I do appreciate constructive comments, but If you read my first post, there is a thread for comments. This is not the place for it. So I will simply request that any further helpful comments be directed there where I will read and consider the suggestions that you have mentioned.

One last thing, what I chose to do is what I choose to do.

Well given that you are writing a fanfic you are quite clearly a writer of sorts, whether you claim to be or not.

I do appreciate constructive comments, but If you read my first post, there is a thread for comments.
Since your comments thread (or this one in fact) has no comments other than those posted by you yourself, I'd have thought that you would appreciate feedback wherever it may be posted.

Besides, I see no reason why your fanfic requires its own comments thread. No one else's fanfic seems to require such a thing.

One last thing, what I chose to do is what I choose to do.
Grammar issues aside, what is your point?

I have nothing more to say. I am resuming my fan fiction.
