The Orange Box is a great buy. HL2 alone is an excellent, almost cinematic, experience. There is not really a story that unfolds and tells you everything about what going's on, but you can fill in the blanks yourself, for the most part. It's mostly meant to be an engaging first-person experience. At that, it succeeds very well, and is not constantly run-and-gun action.
