I suppose this Origins movie could take the approach implied by that early Simon Pegg snippet about the timeline-splitting having changed the past as well as the future, freeing them to present it however they like, without regard to stuff already established by Prime. I hope not, but will deal with it if they go that way.

Perhaps they'll combine the two and have our Enterprise crew travel back in time to the origins.
I mean, of course. But if…. At this point, they could just spin it as the start of a new continuity entirely, and not continue Kelvin either.
I get the feeling that CBS/Paramount are pathologically adverse to creating yet another continuity, or mentioning that dreaded word, 'reboot.' They just want to stubbornly stick to what was done before, even if it looks and feels completely different from what was done before.
We live in a world where Ghostbusters or Blade Runner have gone 30 years between sequels. Next month a Karate Kid spin-off sequel show called Cobra Kai will come to an end 40 years on from the original movie.

As much I I enjoy the Kelvin films, they didn't have near the cultural impact that any of the recently revived franchises had. Top Gun, Ghostbusters, Mad Max, Blade Runner, Halloween, Indiana Jones, etc. These were pinnacle films of the 1980s and have been ingrained into the culture.
30 years from now, the Kelvin films will simply be looked at as a small part of the massive franchise that is Star Trek.

True. There is an interesting phenomenon going on in filmmaking of bringing back crews and properties regardless of age.
And supposedly there's a Karate Kid film featuring Macchio and Jackie Chan too, despite no follow up on Chan's Karate Kid film for years.
Maybe not the whole cast but I would not be surprised if at least Pine, Quinto and Saldana were willing.
Are guest appearances on current Trek shows more likely?
They discussed having Pine's Kirk join the Prodigy crew in season two, but decided it was busy enough already.
I'm afraid this won't happen because Enterprise was not so successful and they want to make money.

9 years since the last Trek movie. That’s a longer drought than NEM - 2009. Paramount has not stopped pumping out content for streaming. But they have abandoned the movies entirely.
They had something and they’ve let it spoil rotten. Why?

Paramount crumbling probably has something to do with it. The announcements were to boost their value for a sale (to Skydance, IIRC) which I think is currently trapped in limbo because of corporate stuff.
Sure, but what was their excuse between 2016 and 2024?
