I don't remember if I asked this before, but I seem to have this memory of Enterprises phasers hitting Reliant's torpedo bay before being blown apart by Enterprises own torps.

I think I might have tricked myself into remembering that, in that ILM had two arti pieces showing both that strike, the Enterprise's dorsal getting hit, and Reliant trailing blood-like plasma from the missing nacelle, where the movie shown only sparks

That shot was never in the movie, but was in tons of publicity material and posters, magazines, etc.

Yeah, that shot was created first for publicity---basically an early announcement--"This isn't going to be just staring at the view screen with jaws agape."

A private conversation between Picard and Data over a glass of wine.

Perhaps Nemesis would have been better received if some of this footage was reinstated.

The cut scene between Data and Picard discussing a bottle of wine is one of my favourite scenes in all of theatrical Trek. I find Nemesis is improved immeasurably if I watch that scene immediately after the credits roll.

Wow, this would've made the movie a whole lot darker..

Agreed, but it would have added a lot of heft to the themes of the film. Genesis = new life. You've got Kirk dealing with his son (a new life he and Carol created) so it would be a great thematic counterpoint if Khan had a son that he sacrificed in the name of revenge.

I'm hugely surprised that Paramount would give an actor access to a deleted scene that they themselves never offered for viewing.

That's better than what we got on screen--but with a still, you can take your time.

In the lower photo (also on my Starlog mag)--the reliant is venting plasma, not sparkles.

Looking at how both shots look--you can understand why I consider STII to be a slasher film--spawned by bloody horror films from the late 1970s-early 1980's
