The Official Cell/Mobile Phone thread!

I currently have the Motorola W755. I like it. It fits my tastes, and it doesn't give me problems like my RAZR did... My contract is up next month however, and when I renew it, I'm going to upgrade to the Motorola Krave. That phone is so cool looking! It makes me think of a TOS communicator a little bit. It has a touch screen instead of buttons. The flip top is clear, and when it is closed it is a touch screen also! And I love how the speaker is just kinda sitting there in the middle of clear plastic. It's connected to the rest of the phones electronics through micro-fibers embedded in the plastic lid. You can't see them so it looks like the speaker is randomly off in the middle of nowhere. I'm so excited to be getting it.

Oh, what a timely thread. I've got a Motorola W385, which is exactly what I wanted last time my Verizon plan was up for renewal: a phone that was just a phone, no bells or whistles, and with great voice recognition dialing. It's small, light and cheap so I've had no compunctions about just sticking it in my pocket or tossing it on my bedside table at night. It's been a great phone.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), for various reasons, both work and personal, the time has come to make the leap to a smartphone of some kind. I've been doing my research and I have to say ... the choices are driving me crazy!!! :brickwall:

I was leaning toward the Blackberry Storm, only it doesn't have wifi and the reivews have been less than so-so.

I was all amped up about the new Palm Pre, except that it's on Sprint, and everyone I know who has ever been with Sprint feels that they deserve their own special ring of hell. Also, now that reviews are coming in it sounds like the Pre needs some refinements, and I discovered it doesn't offer voice recognition (seriously? in 2009?), and that's a deal breaker for me because of the amount of driving I do for work.

I'm considering the iPhone 3Gs now that it's out, but have concerns about AT&T. Work frequently takes me to the northern reaches of New Hampshire and Maine, and I was concerned about coverage. However, this ...

I'm a happy iPhone 3G owner. I got it 6 months ago and have absolutely no regrets. I was initially skeptical about switching from Verizon to AT&T but the service so far has been about the same. For work, I have a crappy Blackberry 8700. Technically, there's nothing wrong with it, but it's outdated.

... is helpful in that regard.

I could upgrade with Verizon right now, or I can switch to another carrier in October. Unfortunately, Verizon doesn't currently have anything that excites me.

I'm thinking of waiting until the new Storm 2 comes out in September and seeing what it's like. Then, depending on the reviews, probably either go with that or maybe switch to AT&T for an iPhone of a Blackberry Bold, depending on what better seems to fit my needs at the time.

I hear that both the Pre and the iPhone will be coming to Verizon next year, but I just don't think I can wait that long (for various reasons, including the fact that my W385 battery is dying and it will cost twice as much as the phone is worth to replace it.)

All that having been said, I'd be more than open to any suggestions from any of you Treknologists out there. :techman:

I've been using the freebie that came with my Qwest account. However yesterday I ordered a new iPhone. Is there a coffee app? ;)
