I have a really old pink Samsung phone.
What I love the best about it is that I have about 100 SMS's from my ex, proving his ongoing stupidities.
What I hate is that I can't easily transfer them OFF my phone, so eventually it is going to be a real problem to keep them.

I have a Samsung Instinct which I like a lot (especially the Navigation feature).

Call me a bandwagoneer, but I still want an iPhone. The web browser is sooooo much better.

I usually get my husbands old cell phone and he gets the new one, since we stagger the contract expirations. Recently I washed the good ole basic Nokia (which I had for a few years.) Instead of trading like usual, he bought me a LG phone with a small keyboard, so I can text a little easier.

My first cell phone was one of those unremarkable samsung models Sprint sold about five years ago.

Now I (still) have a MOTO RAZR v3xx. I'm content with the feature set as I have no burning desire to use my phone for anything other than calls and txts. I'm never that far from a computer so I can't justify the cost of a data plan and a smartphone. Attached to my phone is a nice case from Vaja. The case isn't in that pristine condition anymore but after some two years it's kept the phone looking new.

My only complaint seems to be some sort of bug/limitation/hardware defect in which the phone will stop sending/ and recieving txts after the inbox exceeds 70+ msgs. It was also suffering from accompanying freezing before I reflashed it.

I'm still riding off my mother and father's old Cingular family plan and one of the phones with that (Nokia 6102i) . I really need to get into the whole smartphone, I guess, as all my friends seems to be doing. I'm looking at the iPhone 3GS. Despite the drawbacks, that may be the one to get.

I have an LG Rumor. Great texting phone with the slide out full keyboard. Do some minor web surfing with it, though it doesn't qualify as a "smartphone".

Much better than the last phone I had, which was a Samsung double sided MP3 player, and it it had a little touch pad on it that was very difficult to use for navigation.

My phone is pretty simple. When I get a bit more money I'll probably buy a new one with some cooler features. I doubt I'd use it all the time like some people, I just don't roll that way but while people on their cell phones can be annoying, cell phones are a good thing and have done more good than harm.

It's always fun to complain about cell users but I'm glad I have one in case of emergencies and in the cases when I need to send a text.

Everybody I know who ever owned a RAZR hated it because it was so buggy. Every single one of them at some point needed to get a replacement because it broke on them.

I used to have an ancient BlackBerry 7520 (welcome to the 21st century, U.S. Cellular), but after it spent a day's vacation in a snowbank, I decided to go back to just a standard phone. I now have a Motorola MOTORAZR VE20, which is working out great for me now. (The external touch-screen controls are particularly nice.)

I have an iPhone 3G 16gig. Absolutely love it! Use it for multiple work email accounts and web browsing. Love the few apps I have for it as well. Also enjoy being able to put my favorite movies and/or tv episodes on there and take it to the gym or wherever else I am if I'm bored.

I am VERY excited about the new 3.0 software being released, primarily for the ability to type in landscape when texting and emailing.

I'm a happy iPhone 3G owner. I got it 6 months ago and have absolutely no regrets. I was initially skeptical about switching from Verizon to AT&T but the service so far has been about the same. For work, I have a crappy Blackberry 8700. Technically, there's nothing wrong with it, but it's outdated.

There is a constant voice in my head telling me to purchase a smartphone... especially the iPhone or perhaps the new HTC Magic/G2. Realistically, though, I know that I wouldn't use any of the data stuff on it enough to justify signing up for a mandatory data plan (as an example, I know someone at work who's had an iPhone for like a year and has only transferred a few mb lifetime... between his wireless network at home and the one at work it almost always connects over wifi). So I've been able to resist that.

Instead, I've got one of those touchscreen phones that looks like a smartphone but isn't. Specifically the LG Dare. This means I can pretend to have a cool smartphone without actually paying for a data plan, so I'm happy.

Wait a sec....Unless I misunderstand you... you can get an iphone or blackberry or something with Rogers or Fido with a basic dumb-dumb $15-20/month plan and skip the whole data plan, and use wifi at work/home, as you mentioned. That data package is not mandatory, they just want you to think it is.

90% of a blackberry's features are unusable without the data plan. I think only the web-browser works with just wifi.

Seriously, there's absolutely no point in getting a BlackBerry or an iPhone without a data plan. It'd be like buying a Ferrari and only ever using it to pick up groceries. And yes, the data plans on BlackBerry's and iPhones ARE mandatory. At least on AT&T and Sprint.

A Blackberry maybe, but everything the iPhone does in terms of data can be done over wifi. If you generally find yourself in coverage by wifi networks then a data plan is just a waste of money. If you travel around a lot, then obviously that's not going to work, but not everyone does.

I have the Blackberry Bold, and it is the best cellphone I've ever owned. I have an unlimited data plan.

- Screen is incredible

- Phone is easy to hold, light, feels good in the hands and pockets

- Phone is sexy, very stylish

- Phone is FAST, AND it has a very lean OS, no bloatware, so the phone is very fast

- Easy to navigate, the scroll wheel works great and it is very easy to get around the phone and do what you need to very fast

- Lean OS, it uses Blackberry OS 4.6 and it is very nice

- Keyboard is nice, I like having the keyboard right on the front so I don't have to slide anything, it is right there in front of me at all times, easy to just start typing

- Battery life good

all right i could use some advice.
i am about to drop my landline.
right now i am considering going with sprint as my cell phone provider.
i reallly like the free minutes after 7pm as opposed to 9pm that a lot of providers do.

a lot of the people i call are older and some maybe going to bed by 9pm.

i want to do somethings on the phone like email ect..
but i dont think i will be doing an overwhelming amount of web browsing

Then you DEFINITELY won't like the slimy bastards at Sprint. Avoid at all costs. While their customer service is ok, they have a habit of slipping extra charges/services onto your plan without really notifying you. Getting them removed is a PITA.

Also, take a good look at the last couple of rounds of cell phone testing in Consumer Reports. In nearly every market they tested, Sprint is the absolute bottom of the ratings.
