The Official "BALLS TO WINTER!" Thread

We had arcticly frigid single-digit temperatures here the last couple of days.

My balls were in my throat the whole time.

We had arcticly frigid single-digit temperatures here the last couple of days.

Over the course of last weekend, we probably got close to a foot of snow. The temperatures were in the -10C to -15C range (that's between 5 and 14F), with a wind chill around -23C (-9F).

Now, today it's 4C (39F) and pouring with rain. Saturday it's supposed to get up to 11C (52F). This is ridiculous.

My balls were in my throat the whole time.

I shall be good and forgo commenting on this.

It's so flat. And dark. And overcast. And chilly. The hell, if it's going to be socked in with clouds it should at least be raining so the hills around here green up a bit more.

Arrrgggghhhhh can we please fast forward 6 months?

I'm not sure how I feel about this winter. In general, I despise winter, but I'm not sure if this year is better or worse than usual. On one hand, we haven't had a ton of snow. We've had frequent snow, but it has never been heavy and tends to disappear in the first day or two. In fact, this Christmas break is better than last year in the sense that I have been home almost 24 hours and have yet to need to dig the cars out of the snow. That pleases me greatly.

On the other hand, it has been a very long time since the weather has been this bitterly cold. The past few weeks, we have regularly been single digit or negative temperature before the windchill has been applied! And, being in SE Wyoming, there is a lot of windchill to add. So, some aspects are going better, but other aspects are going worse than usual. Did I win or lose?

We got hit again today. Damn near collapsed from an asthma attack shoveling snow. But, I survived, and discovered that the woodstove in our sunroom puts out sooooo much heat with the right fuel that we needn't be chilly from that room having no heating source.

No snow for a few days.

Got my CD player hooked back up and am enjoying the sounds of the season.

Everyone showed up for Choir practice this morning despite the blizzard, and I discovered that after four months of having a full time organ gig, my chops are back up to where they were in high school -- with respect to my hands. My feet have been kicking ass and taking names since college.

I'm going to fuck up the Lutherans tonight -- the ones who won't shut up while I do the prelude. I've got a Bach organ prelude worked back up that's fucking loud and long. I'm going to do it during the Offertory. Give, bitches, 'cuz the song don't end when you think you're done.

Hah!

Now I just hope my folks make it safely tomorrow.

I think i'm gonna have to dump on this thread. I got my fireplace roaring, i'm in my pajamas, listening to my iPod and jut waiting until my mom gets home so we can go to my aunt's house for dinner.
