The Office: 6x09 - "Double Date" - Discussion

"I'm not robbing the cradle, if anything, I'm robbing the grave" cracked me up hard.

I love that Michael breaks up with her before having to drive her home.

The best bit was the facial reactions that Michael had when he realized she was 58 years old...not a word was said, but the look on his face was priceless...and I also sincerely hope that now that the business of Michael dating Pam's mom is (apparently) over, Pam goes back to acting a bit more...normal.

Oh, and Toby giving Pam punching lessons, with Michael looking on in the background was great too. Steve Carell proved yet again in that episode just how much hilarity he can communicate with just a look.

That was such a a great scene. I had to rewind that one a few times. The joy that Toby had when showing her how to throw the punch was classic.

I also loved pervy Ryan asking Erin about pictures, and the bizarre thing with Creed "Something's wrong, that paper wasn't supposed to make it there."

I like the idea that Creed actually did sabotage a shipment, and that was a real complaint call that Pam used to try to beg off and that Jim hung up on.

This week was definitely had the biggest laughs for me of any episode since the wedding. And "Ultra Nice Dwight" is just creepy...really, really creepy... :)

Dwight- You know how tricky it can be filling these tacos

AIYIAYIYI!

I thought that was great too. All Toby had to do was provide Pam a pair of brass knuckles.

Pam all ready to punch in the parking lot looked cool too. It sort of looked like "Buffy the vampire slayer"

Her final words felt sort of badass

*Dwight to Micheal*

"Why are you limping?"

lol

Another solid episode. They always need more Creed. That guy is insane. He's my favorite character!

I thought the whole favor war between Dwight and Andy was hilarious :D

Really? Personally, though I chuckled a couple times, I thought it was the weakest part of this episode.
Agreed, except for the chuckling part. It's a fine line this show dances on between over-the-top funny and over-the-top stupid. This fell squarely on the stupid side of that line.

I think Pam's character - and this episode in general - does a good job of exemplifying how we all feel about Michael. He's so obnoxious. We hate him. We want nothing to do with him. He needs to stay as far away from our families as possible. And then he does something so endearing that he ends up redeeming himself somewhat. And we feel guilty for hating him as much as we do.

And then he opens his mouth again.

I disagree. I've been watching the reruns on my local station and I really liked the original rivalry between Dwight and Andy, so I was glad to see the two of them go at it again. Andy is such a great character and the rivalry with Dwight just showcases that.

This I agree with, they keep swinging the pendulum back and forth with Michael. I end up feeling bad for him, then hating him, them liking him, then hating him, then feeling sorry again.

I love the Andy/Dwight rivalry also, I just didn't feel this particular bit was all that funny.

Yeah, I don't mind the rivalry per se, it's just that it was extremely annoying this time.
