Spoilers The OA - Netflix Series

I found it interesting but at the end I don't think it added up to as much as they were trying for. I think it got a little lost in the artsy fartsy and the elaborate setup and missed a little something when pulling it all together. I'm not articulating it well but I don't really feel like spending the time to analyze it more thoroughly, maybe a better way to say it is that I thought its ambition exceeded its grasp. I felt the same about another Brit Marling project that mined similarish territory in Another Earth. Still it is ambitious and shooting for more than generic drama territory which is a good thing.

Here's some quotes:

Means nothing that they say they have a plan. Everyone days they have a plan even when they don't. Again, you can take Lost as an example. It's typical PR.

Brit Marling has said that she's had trouble getting work, so she creates her own. In doing so, it looks like she's found her niche.

I don't even remember it.

I like that they did in fact answer what happened to her while she was gone. I'm also happy to hear that they have a firm plan.

Ah, so I'm not the only one who thinks she not that good of an actress then:)

They didn't explain what happened to her. In fact they went out of their way to cast doubt on everything she said the entire series by having the one character find all those books in her place. Now we're back in the mystery box asking if it all happened, or if some of it happened, or if none of it happened and she's delusional or if none of it happened and she's lying.

All we know for sure is that she was adopted, she was blind, she ran away, and she returned being able to see. That she had a premonition (but that's already been given an explanation too by the FBI counsellor) and that she's now shot in the chest.

Also, if she does have powers,we know she's a horrible human being/angel because she's willing to let a school shooting occur (dude fired off a bunch of shots before stopped by the power of interpretive dance) in order to finish her trip to Homer rather than calling the police and saying that there's a student with a gun and he's going to kill people.

I don't really care to be honest, I don't mind if the story's open to interpretation as long as it has something to say along the way.

They didn't explain what happened to her.

Well, they did, the problem is several versions of what happened to her are all valid ;)

That's the thing I like about it, you can look at the show all the way from "all is true" to "she made up everything" and several combinations in between and still have it make some sense.

Would anyone believe her?

Yes. Yes they absolutely would. I absolutely garuntee you that if you made an anonymous call to the police saying there was an armed gunman on the way to your local high school looking to kill students and he may be there already that you would be taken dead seriously.

This was an extremely unique and interesting show and I found myself hooked while watching, and then at the end I had to step back and ask, "What the hell did I just watch?". Lol. I'm curious to see what they do with season 2.
