The No Currency Thing On Earth

So, I get that people can have all the food, clothes and other such items that they need and want via the replicators, but how about land and houses? And, Sisko’s father owned and operated a restaurant in New Orleans. How did people pay for their dinners if there was no currency?
By washing up

TOS - Spock stated how much his training cost

"Kirk: Do you know how much Starfleet has invested in you?!

Spock: 122,200...

Kirk (abruptly): Never mind."

TAS - Carter Winston is a famous billionaire
TVH- The concept of 'exact change' no longer exists on London buses, you have to swipe with a card, there are children alive now who would not understand the concept of 'change for the buses'.
DS9- O'Brien's family never owned a replicator, they ate real food. Where did they get their produce from or any of their consumer goods?
DS9 there was a reference to the Bank of Bolarus being robbed - episode 'Honor among thieves'
DISC - Harry Mudds father-in-law is a wealthy arms dealer

The 'no money' concept from GR is as ridiculous as his love instructors

If they ever reboot TNG please get rid of the 'no money' crap and having a flagship Starfleet vessel representing the UFP full of 99% humans.

^ Money exists within Human society, Humans have access to it. There are too many references to it spread across multiple episodes and multiple series.

So there.

If only I had already agreed to that at some point in my posting history....

Also obvious is that humans are not forbidden to earn money wherever it is possible to do that legally in the Federation (e.g., to buy things unavailable in the New World Economy).

Their wealth is probably held outside the Federation.

Grown on their land? Ireland is good farm country, they're self sufficient for most things, supplementing with barter for out of season fruit, or citrus.

He was trying to keep the Enterprise from being the gunboat sent to protect the Federation traders who came with one-sided deals to exploit pre-warp drive planets. See "Mirror, Mirror" and the relations between mirror-Kirk and the local planet for what GR did NOT want the Enterprise to be.

Earth doesn't charge rent for using Earth as the Federation capitol, which if Trantor is any indication is a fair chunk of the surface, and they don't charge for the ships and starbase prefabricated pieces built on Mars... Although books say that Mars is also a Federation member world.

The value of free "unlimited" ships/space stations and an administration hub for both the Federation and Star Fleet, exceeds the cost of letting a hand full of Earther skalliwags taking fruit and sandwiches whenever they want to, while on holiday.

Shops request recompense from the local government, who are already drowning in resources from Earth donated with abandon, so these foreign worlds pick up the cost, since Earth's ledger is squarely in the black.

The trillions of plebs may not be tracking who owes what, but someone on Earth is, in a small basement with a half dozen accountants maintaining a very powerful computer, because everyone else in the Galaxy who uses money wants to get paid, and then the system will break down.
