The Next Batman film: If not Nolan, then who?

I'm not going to say that they shouldn't continue the franchise without Nolan...because I think they would anyways if Chris opted out. My thing would be for them to do something else not in the Nolan'Verse as it has come to be known as since he and David Goyer are the ones who have crafted it in the first place and should be given the opportunity to finish their story.

Darren Afronsky would be a good choice...I'd like to see Del Toro take a crack at a Batman movie. Bryan Singer would be interesting as well. Zack Snyder...Michael Mann would be interested too. Wouldn't want a return to the campy version though...

Eh, I don't know about Bryan Singer - my instinct is he's all wrong for a Batman movie. His sensibilities are too slick and gentle. Batman works better rough and tough.

But I'll second Fincher. His work has shown the wacky grittiness that's spot on for Batman. He'd have to be reigned in to get a PG-13 movie out of him.

While I have liked some of Aronofsky's stuff, I think he's too idiosyncratic for Batman. That way lies Burtonville...

Wow. That's a tough one. First, I would've say No One... but after reading you guys, I think Michael Mann or Bryan Singer could be good directors to get the franchise safe...

Haha Uwe Boll? God no, lol. Michael Mann might be interesting, since I haven't seen him do this kind of fiction before. Bryan Singer, although tiff's regarding Superman Returns might still be there.

I'll be honest, even though it'd be a horrendous film, I'd still love to see a Batman film directed by Frank Miller. It'd be the funniest film of the year.

I don't think I could handle an Aronofsky Batman. The scenes where Batgirl would whore herself on a coffee table and where Robin would have his arm amputated in prison would be just a tad too screwed up for my tastes.

Oh yes, because all of Nolan's movies involve drowning clones, self-tattooing and ninja right?

Well, even if Nolan doesn't direct the next film, get him involved in developing the story and script, and serving as a creative consultant (and not the creative consultant in name only, but actually being involved).

Based on what I've been reading from both camps, Time Warner wants the next Batman film to be on the fast track, and Christopher Nolan doesn't. And while Nolan has has backing of the fans and critics, TW has the cash and the property. And you can't buy Russian hookers and coke on clout and fan appreciation. So in the likely/unlikely event that neither side will meet halfway and TDK is Nolan's last outing with the Caped Crusader, who do you think should take the helm and continue what has been established. Never mind the actors and their loyalty to Nolan. Just answer the question posed.

WB's Alan Horn just said they're going to wait for Nolan. So...next question.
