The New Xbox Experience is here - your thoughts

I've been most excited about the Netflix addition. I expect to use that quite a bit. Hopefully they'll be more HD movies available soon.

Yup, Netflix is launching HD streaming in conjunction with NXE. Currently there are 300 titles but far more will be coming soon, apparently.

One thing that every review has claimed is that the update is FAST. The interface transitions are apparently smooth as silk with no caching or laggy response whatsoever, which is nice.

Yeah, I'm excited about that. I really like the current interface, but the "lag" gets very old. Especially when I know exactly what I want, but it takes many steps to get there with each one delayed. I hope the new pop-up blade by pressing the Xbox button (which looks great) is that fast, too. If it is, that's a great addition.

So the word is this will be available at around midnight tonight? Anyone else hear that or know for sure?

Agreed about the lag. What especially annoys me is when you're in the 'games' section and the console takes upwards of 20seconds to load in the names of all the demos and XBLA titles you have on the console. That really isn't good enough, and I hope they've fixed that kind of crap.

Also really nice:

You can now access every single bit of NXE functionality while in-game. No more having to drop back to the dashboard to queue up a download, etc.

1680 x 1050 support. No more crappy pixel interpolation issues that blurred the screen on Xbox - to - monitor setups. :D

It'll probably be available when Midnight falls in Redmond (PST), yes.

For 3AM for those of us in the East? *sigh* I was looking forward to this tonight, but I doubt I'll stay up that late.

I read that this is VGA only, but I have no idea.
I do 16:10 via component and Xbox 360 games always never display properly for me.

I am looking forward to the ability to install games on the HD, and hopefully that will not only keep the 360 cooler but help reduce the noise that the DVD drive makes when its spinning.

I would install games, but I only have a 10GB HD, and I don't want to ridiculously, obscenely overpay for a bigger 360 Hard Drive (seriously, those things are painfully overpriced. I can buy a terabyte of storage for what I'd pay for a hundred gig 360 HDD

Ditto. I might be able to install one game at a time (which is pretty much what I play at any given time anyway), but I'm not springing for a new HDD until they really come down in price or there's a great deal for one.

I'm kind of anxious to get my hands on the NXE. I've read a bit about it, but want to try it out for myself.

It's coming out tomorrow?

I think it's worth it. The old drives were either like 4200 RPM or the new drives are 7200 RPM - either way, there's a substantial speed improvement even in the current dash.

It's still pricey as hell, but at least it's not stupidly over priced...

Also, there's the 60GB option that's available now, I think.
