The New USS Discovery....

Also I have to remember this was created by a marketing department. I do graphic design for a living and sometimes...well, to be nice marketers aren't always as engaged as they could be. They may also not have access to current designs to reduce leaks. They may have a pile of placeholder assets to use for advertising. Why the KEY ART looks different is weird, but since that took more work to assemble and will be evergreen I am guessing that is much closer to the final version.

The color scheme has notably improved!
But yeah, this is almost the exact teaser version, except for more details. Which I like. The biggest problem of the teaser traielr version was the underside of the secondary hull, the underbally that looked like a cardboard box.

I cannot determine wether the negative space is still the same, or if they have holes throughout. Hard to make out against the black background.

Edit: Also, it looks as if the nacelles are now slightly raised! At least there is a tiny bit of shadow from the left nacelle. Could be just the nacelle itself, though...
I agree that the color certainly looks very much improved from the teaser released last year. And the overall design just looks a little sleeker for some reason.

As far as my knowledge, that is not Discovery's final design. They might be holding off the reveal for later and just using the old one as a placeholder for that poster. Now, it COULD have changed, but last I saw of Discovery, it looked more like the fan art a few pages back.

I'm not sure why at this point they'd still need to use unfinished or outdated artwork in their promotional materials. The show's going to premiere in a few months, not a few years.

Also, with that Aztec pattern and color scheme, it looks more like the Dreadnought from Into Darkness. So perhaps Discovery is a Section 31 ship after all.

I find myself wondering if the Constitution Class can be reinterpreted as having a cut-out portion as well, that we've always seen filled in with mission modules. This might explain the undercut or the 'coffee stain' ring on the top of the primary hull. Note that I'm not saying this was the original intent, but future depictions of the 1701 might include it.

It's a television network, the last of the big media producers to come into the 21st century. I've worked with NBC & CBS and it's kind of shocking how behind the curve they can be. I'd be willing to take bets this is not the most current version.

USS Vengeance colour scheme.... Section 31 confirmed?

Looks cool, but I've come to like the version @RAMA and others have seen more. Curious that they don't seem to use the most current version of the design. Well, we'll see. Three months!!! :)

EDIT: By the way, that was my 10.000th post! Wohoo! I have no life.

This is interesting http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/19/star-tr...l&xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter

"The bridge of the U.S.S. Discovery. Trek fans think they already know what it looks like from the trailer. But that’s not it — the trailer shows the bridge of the U.S.S. Shenzhou — an entirely different (and older) ship than the Discovery that the production also had to build. The actual Discovery bridge has yet to be revealed…"

So the Shenzhou is NCC-1227 and Discovery NCC-1031 which, as been pointed out and argued in the past, registry does not necessarily connote production order of starships.

Hmm... Between them saying that the Shenzhou is an older ship, the Discovery bridge is something different than that of the Shenzhou, and that tweet from Jason Isaacs saying that he wasn't in the trailer because "all good things to those who wait", it all makes me want to believe that the USS Discovery may be a bit closer to TOS style than what the Shenzhou is? Maybe I am reading too much into it, but the Shenzhou looks more ENT style, so maybe the Discovery will be closer to a modernized TOS look.

I'm betting the leap of of quality from the Shenzou bridge to the Discovery bridge will be like from the Kelvin to the JJverse 1701. I'm looking forward to seeing Discovery's bridge, I have no idea what it looks like. Only seen the exterior.

I'm getting to be very curious to see what the Discovery bridge looks like. I had been expecting it to stay fairly close to the Shenzou bridge, but that makes it sound like it'll be very different. I understand wanting to keep people's interest by holding back on the big reveals, but the slow trickle of information about DSC has been seriously annoying.
I really like that new version of the Discovery from the logo, can't wait to get real look at the final version.

If that's the final design, it's pretty close to what I saw, but with newer/sleeker nacelles. Earlier today when I made my comment, I was looking at it on my phone and didn't get a detailed look. Now that I see it on a large monitor, I'm questioning if this might indeed be the final design. I can't say because I'm no longer in the know. Hmm. I just don't know.

Last time I saw, it looked like this...
